Sometimes, I think research is the process of removing, for example, 121 characters of 23 words from some text of it fits some size limit, while still retaining its meaning. Superfluous words, I CAST THEE OUT!

EDIT: Research is the process of editing text to fit size limits, but retaining meaning.

Omg this. Please. Less ABB.
An abbreviation (ABB) in a journal article (JA) or Grant Application (GA) is rarely worth the words it saves. Every ABB requires cognitive resources (CR) and at my age by the time I'm halfway through a JA or GA I no longer have the CR to remember what your ABB stood for.

Just reviewed a paper on psilocybin, I think was AI generated. I can't believe the editor sent out.

Methods very brief and point form, used several non clinical samples but not clear what they were actually used for, results was 4 tables of "statistics" and virtually zero text.

Wooooow.

After many (many) years of work with Dr. Chantal Percival we have open-science published an "edited book" Cognitive
Modes Detectable with Task-Based fMRI. Results on a total of 28 tasks are reported.

Over the past few years, one of the biggest obstacles to me performing research has turned out to be lawyers. Even the simplest agreements seem to take a year.

We are doing the same thing over and over again, and they continuously insist to reinvent the wheel. It's wild. It's a Mel Brooks movie.

So important to see work focusing on sex specific differences!

Very nice. Good example of what people can do with animal research that could translate into human research.

I can't respect anybody who complains about "woke". The foundational concept here is the treat other people with respect, and recognize the challenges that other people who are not you face in life.

That doesn't seem like a high bar.

It's just a cheap target for people with no better ideas.

Just got back from a conference (SIRS), was delightful to see so much interesting science and connect with so many colleagues.

Except the person sitting behind me sniffling and coughing on Tuesday. In the middle of the seats, no mask. Because now I just got home, and I'm sick too.

Dammit.
