It finally hit me... I finished making a complete offline backup of all of my own videos as well as everything I have ever liked, favorited, or shared in the last 5 years on TikTok, and that is when it hit me. It is a lot of different feelings, but mostly I am just fucking angry and sad.

the great part about social media is every new day is a new opportunity to witness the worst thing you’ve ever seen

I’ve been playing my way through every version of Tetris ever officially released and I gotta say, the original pascal version that Alexey Pajitnov (the creator) made to run in the terminal of his Electornika 60 (unofficial Soviet PDP-11) remains the most fun & charming version I’ve played so far

Regarding all the #drone stuff, those commenting “The government is trying to distract us for [BLANK]” need to remember that the world is a very big place and sometimes, two noteworthy things do indeed happen around the same time.

Kids, I’m a high school English teacher. “262 words” is not a manifesto; it’s a five-paragraph essay.

One of my favorite things about this time of year is the painterly explosion of golden light that fills this hallway in my house every day around 4:30. It’s the kind of warmth you only find in childhood memories. Sometimes I just stand there admiring it until I’ve forgotten what I was doing prior

Brandon Ogbunu @cbo.bsky.social and I have a new piece on AI coming out in Scientific American next week.

In the meantime, this piece from last year remains evergreen.

It’s been fascinating to watch the UHC assassin become a folk hero in real time. I’ve seen people making art, writing songs, and even read poetry about him. I hope he’s never identified so he can stay a true folk hero, the embodiment of an idea, free of the baggage of being a real person with flaws

I’ve been spending some time trying to figure out what makes this platform feel so different from Threads or X. So far the biggest difference is actually a lack of something, rage-bait. When I close X or threads, I’m almost always angry. When I close bluesky I’m not. That difference counts for A LOT

If listening to audiobooks doesn’t count as reading, then does writing with a keyboard not count as writing? Or is the goal to gatekeep literacy & learning while sounding like a "refined intellectual"?

Having now spent a good chunk of my free time over the last 3 days replaying LoZ:BoTW through a virtual screen in my quest 3, I can confidently say this is by far the best way to play switch games. It is functionally a 140 inch curved (magically floating) TV with surround sound, this is the future

Friendly reminder that every single bitcoin transaction produces more CO2 than 1,112,976 VISA transactions, uses more electricity than the average US household in a month, & consumes about as much water as a large residential swimming pool. If that isn't enough to be a non-starter then IDK what is.
