What are the chances of an arrest in this case? Probably slim.

It amazes me how little empathy people have - even for those in similar situations. These TPS holders blithely supported Trump because they thought they were untouchable, even though he threatened to deport millions of other immigrants. Now they feel betrayed? FAFO.

So what kind of "solution" are they trying to work out? Are they gonna re-write the First Amendment?
Trump is blacklisting a news outlet for using a name he doesn't like.

It's that simple.

So why aren't more reporters and media outlets speaking out more vehemently to help The AP? In part, I'm told, it's because the WH Correspondents' Association is trying to work out a solution behind the scenes.

Hmm, I'm no media expert, but it seems like you'd want to focus on the fact that there is an active coup in progress, led by our President and an unelected billionaire who have illegally taken over some of our government agencies in an attempt to destroy our democracy. But that's just me.
>> @marisakabas.bsky.social said the other day that "it feels like cable news and corporate media made a deal to convince people to keep calm and carry on."

I have a different interpretation of what's going on. This famous GIF sums it up cable news/traditional media right now:

This is so true. Although if it is true, it could be that I'm agreeing with it simply because it supports my position! On the other hand, if it is not true, and our brains really do act as impartial judges, then my initial assertion that it is true would be incorrect. So it has to be true! 🤔
We like to think of our brain as an impartial judge evaluating the facts.

But, for most, our brain is a defense lawyer selecting what supports our positions and rejecting what does not, because that makes us feel better.

The social media algorithms exploit our weakness.
