Lovely morning out on patch at Borrans Park, Waterhead this morning. The highlight being an Eurasian Bittern which flew from a patch of reeds along the marsh, patch tick 125! Other highlights Common sand & Curlew flybys + Marsh Tit.

Lovely views of this singing common sandpiper on patch at Borrans Park, Ambleside this morning. Other highlights included a low fly over osprey heading NW down the Rydal Valley and a total of 61 species!

Great past two days birding. Yesterday Moss Eccles & Wise Een Tarns with @millsbirding.bsky.social included highlights of barn owl + 5 goldeneye and 15 tufted duck. Then today a mornings patch birding at Borrans Park in lovely weather included at least 1 (of 2) long staying shag. eBird lists below.

A Halifax birding day out with @cogsbirding.bsky.social with some Pintail madness!
1st went to Ringstone Edge to twitch two drakes found earlier, as it was a Halifax tick! Found 4 birds present!
Then checked Elland GP and had 3 females fly over with a Wigeon!
Just one other Halifax 2024 record!

Overdue patch tick in the form of a Cetti’s warbler at Borrans Park along the boardwalk west of the marsh. Still a rare bird in the Lake District!
Two wigeon on the river Rothay was my second patch record and the first noneflyover!

Great long weekend to be back at home in Yorkshire! Scarlet tanager only 10 mins away in Shelf, Calderdale which showed well briefly!

A Dunlin at Borrans Park this morning not often we get waders in the Lake District and especially not on the deck! Also a wigeon S & 5 whooper swans N.
Two patch ticks in 1 day taking me to 116!

Lovely views of the patch Yellow browed warbler at Borrans Park this morning. Other highlights included 159 redwing south, 49 common gull north and the first water rail of the season.

Yellow-browed Warbler still on patch at Borrans Park, Waterhead this morning calling more regularly than on Sunday. Also great white egret still in the marsh.

YELLOW-BROWED WARBLER at Borrans Park this morning. Calling as I arrived at the confluence between the Rothay and the Brathay. What a bird and what a feeling!

A male ring-necked duck was on Windermere from Borrans Park this morning, a first for the patch taking the total to 140 and my 113th species personally. Also a great white egret dropped in briefly before flying S/SW down Windermere.
