I'm insanely bad at keeping up with social media, but I'm super excited for the future. Two of my scripts made it to second round at AFF, I'm writing a novel, and my audio drama is now in production. The ebbs and flows of life are doing their thing.

I’m a sucker for the meta genre shows like Interior Chinatown and Kevin can F Himself. Breaking social norms all the while poking holes at the tropey styles of network tv will never not be topical. I need more tbh.

It came to me as I fell asleep last night, but I need a who-done-it set during a rain delay of the last game of the World Series.

I was never going to win the Nicholl and don't need to. But the death of the only "pure" (ie, legitimate, not for profit) screenplay competition and one of the only truly unweighted avenues for diverse amateurs is bad enough without slapping its name on whatever this is.

I like to shrug off peoples fear mongering about the state of the industry because if I give it any weight at all I will succumb to the Doom and I simply can’t deal with more Doom atm.

woke up still upset about Coverfly and I think it’s valid. Feels like avenues are drying up or changing and that plus all of the doom in the industry otherwise, just feels bleh.

was coverfly groundbreaking? was it beneficial? was it helpful to emerging writers? All debatable. Was it fun? Yes.

As much as I admire Mark Duplass, Good American Family is such an…unfortunate show. Acting/writing aside there were so many odd choices made, and I fail to believe no one in the entire process didn’t speak up and say, maybe we shouldn’t do it like this, if at all.

To AI shills & capitalist institutions, writers are simultaneously not important enough to compensate while alive and so important once dead that their machine-ghosts must be resurrected to continue the work of profit-making. Vile.
The BBC has created an electric zombie Agatha Christie in order to sell writing classes. This is stomach-churningly awful, and the sooner this stupid, useless, frankly evil bubble bursts, the better. Disgusting.

‘SINNERS’ overperformed official estimates and actually opened to $48M domestically.

Biggest opening for an original film this decade.

The success of SINNERS reminds me that our business has squandered so much talent and money through their complete lack of foresight and their refusal to develop new ideas and new storytellers over the last twenty years.

So glad to see the theme of the Curse bleed into the second season of the Rehearsal. No one’s doing it like Nathan Fielder. I still think about the finale of the Curse. Such an incredible visionary. How can they fit so much existential dread and humor in one man.
