Black History Month is a time to recognize the lived, shared experience of all Black folks who have fundamentally shaped, challenged, and ultimately strengthened America. It’s about taking an unvarnished look at the past so that we can create a better future.

My favorite part is when the "emoji people" said

"This (🙏) is a high five"

And Black people said "These (🙏) are prayer hands and thank you for your attention in this matter"

And went right back to sending them

Her victory means Democrats could be on the verge of breaking the Republican Party’s supermajority in the upper legislative chamber.

The #D’Angelo news makes me really sad. I saw him in concert in Denver years ago. Clips don’t do him justice. Attending his show live was an experience. He’s a once in a lifetime artist and musician that can not be replaced. Prayers to his family.

Every time I see a headline, I get furious at the 77 *MILLION*! Every time. It really DIDN’T have to be this way! SMH!!! So much cruelty and unnecessary loss of things that were helping people.

This story needs to be flogged, amplified, lifted.
"Despite Trump officially activating FEMA on Sunday, FEMA has just 86 total staff deployed at this point [to Texas], according to figures shared with staff Monday evening...In the past it would normally be in the several hundreds at this point in the disaster recovery process."

My latest:
FEMA response to deadly Texas floods delayed & deficient with Noem in charge

I am grieving the barbarism that is going to unfurl from all this. People are going to die. Livelihoods gone. All to feed a corrupt kleptocracy.

I see every day up close how different it is from the first time around. There are no guardrails. A disaster. I’m sorry we have to live through this.

I don’t think anyone is prepared for what they just did w/ ICE.

This is not a simple budget increase. It is an explosion - making ICE bigger than the FBI, US Bureau of Prisons, DEA,& others combined.

It is setting up to make what’s happening now look like child’s play. And people are disappearing.

The Republican spending bill is a historic theft that will take from the poor to give to the already-rich.

Republicans passed this knowing people will die.

They know people will lose their health care.

They know children will go hungry.

They will own the tragic results. We can't let them forget.

We REALLY tried to tell y’all. I knew it was gonna be bad when you voted for him (or didn’t vote at all) in Nov! Gonna be rough when access to healthcare and food are gone! Beyond angering! SMH.

Senate Republicans just passed Trump’s bullshit of a bill—and it’s even uglier than before.

— At least 16 million could lose healthcare
— Trillions will be added to the deficit
— Hospitals will close
— Children will go hungry

Now it comes back to the House.

If the House passes Trump's Big Ugly Bill, every community will feel cuts to basic needs—all so billionaires can get another giant tax cut.

Call your Republican representative today, or ask friends and family to call theirs.

Congress must authorize military force before any president—including Trump—launches a strike.
