This week, I've seen so many folks mention a different movie as their go-to Val Kilmer movie, and I think that the best we can hope for when we die is for people to have that many opinions on what makes us excellent.

I'm just a middle manager, standing in front of someone who makes more than twice my salary, begging them to use an ounce of critical thinking and/or reasonable judgment to understand the policy that hasn't changed in years.

My spouse and I are both ADHD, & 2024 included an arm/hand injury for me. Housework fell behind, and it always felt like failure. So we hired a cleaning lady this month. She's wonderful, but it's humbling to open the door and say "please help, it's too much for me."

My CEO messaged me about his retirement plan at 2AM on Friday. Of the many things Europe gets right and the US gets wrong, disallowing off-hours work messages is gaining more prominence every day.

My dog's nemesis, Timmy, is a poodle who lives next door part time & on a cattle ranch part time. The ranch dogs have been bullying him, so he's more reactive now. Today, he charged my dog & nicked him in the eyelid. I'm sad for both dogs. Both deserve to feel safe.
