Today we honor those who’ve served our nation. Veterans from every background remind us of our shared duty to build a community worthy of their sacrifice - one of care, justice, opportunity, and peace. Thank you to all veterans and military families in Ward 3 and across DC.

Yesterday’s joint hearing on behavioral health supports in housing brought tangible progress. I-along with neighbors, ANC 3F, and tenant leaders-have continued to raise concerns about challenges in our Permanent Supportive Housing (PSH) program, and the agencies have responded.

This is what governing for all of DC looks like. When we invest in our children and families, we're investing in our entire city's future.

Thank you to CMs Parker and Frumin for championing this amendment and to all my colleagues who voted to put money in the pockets of vulnerable DC families.

Today colleagues and I approved an increased earned income tax credit & re-established a child tax credit. At a time when the Mayor’s budget was balanced on the backs of working families @cmzparker5.bsky.social & @cmfrumin.bsky.social found a way to undo some of that damage.

I was proud to co-introduce this amendment to help residents most in need. While disappointed the retirement savings protection piece was not ultimately included, I’m very glad to have worked w/ @cmzparker5.bsky.social to pass the EITC and Child Tax Credit - meaningful relief for DC families.
Join me in celebrating a huge victory for working-class families across the District: we secured the first-ever District Child Tax Credit and an acceleration of the Earned Income Tax Credit expansion. 🎉

As Chair of the Committee on Human Services, I’m working to help DC residents stay housed & protect access to vital benefits. Watch this morning's hearing on bills that would continue flexible rent support & strengthen safeguards to prevent stolen benefits.

"I've been on the council for a couple of years, and every year I ask when are we going to have this and every year the goal posts move. That can't happen again. Figure it out," says @cmfrumin.bsky.social to the OSSE official, who is the interim director of transportation for the agency.

🧵(1/3)The Housing Committee heard my bill today, the Rent Stabilization Protection Amendment Act, which would eliminate the ability of landlords to charge higher rents to voucher holders than they would otherwise be allowed to charge a non-voucher holder under the District's rent stabilization law.

(🧵1/3): The ongoing federal #shutdown could disrupt November #SNAP benefits for 140K+ #DC residents - including 50K children. I’ve spoken with the Executive to urge timely and direct communication with beneficiaries, planning for all scenarios, and that we protect food access.
