Mostly posting mediocre wildlife photography, and updates on arts and crafts projects. I'm pampering pets and figuring things out. She/her.
Finally finished this paint by numbers. It was fun, but I had to fight with the old rubbery paint, and give some colors a second coat.

Shower thought time. 🧵

The phrase "You shouldn't have."

It can mean so many freaking things.

1. That action was harmful, don't do it again.

2. That action gave you very little gain for your exertion.

3. That thing you did was a conventionally thoughtful gesture.

Whoo, I just tried that trick on dented wood where you dampen it, put a damp cotton rag on it, then iron it. The heated water in the wood expands and gets the dent out.

It freaking worked. Witchcraft!

(I only recommended if you don't care about the wood's finish.)

This is a scary good thread. I'm gonna hide under my bed now...
The Golden Gate Bridge.

It was about here on my walk that I started laughing like a crazy person thinking about onshoring a factory in a hurry.

I’ve helped build and ramp a line for heavy equipment.

It takes years to get right.

This is fucking madness by men who’ve never owned steel tipped boots

Gah. With these horrible tariffs, I might actually test the crafters principle of S.A.B.L.E (stash acquisition beyond life expectancy) Was hoping to keep that very theoretical.

On a related note, just left some voicemails for my Senators. Gah.

I love baltic birch plywood, and that's Hakeem Jeffries favorite plywood too! Plywood lovers of the world, unite!
Easiest click farm bot and troll blocklist ever is to say something positive and include "Hakeem Jeffries". The bots scan for it and autoreply. It was hilarious when I put up a post about Hakeem Jeffries and deleted it for typos. Didn't have a chance to repost but the bots were triggered....

For anyone wondering, some possible dog names have survived from cuneiform sources.

On tiny dog figurines found buried under a palace in Nineveh, Iraq are inscriptions that seem to be names.

dan rigiššu “loud is his bark”

munaššiku gārîšu “biter of his foe”

mušēṣi lemnūti “expeller of evil”

Well, saw this critter this morning. He sat on the hill behind my house, outraging my dogs, for a good 15 minutes while I polished off breakfast and explained to the dogs why they couldn't go out and fight our visitor.

I thought he was sick, but he then got up and trotted smoothly away.

I've been into paint by numbers for a while, though I'm slow at it. It's a good way to move my hands while turning my brain off.

This one is from Winnie's Picks. Several of the paints were gummy or pale and needed to be doctored up with flow aid and a few drops from my Golden brand paint stash.

Turns out that $40 can get you 360 Lego frogs and a handful of butterflies. Behold!

About time I posted something happy/funny. My compliments to Zeb Ernest. The scary thing is that these little muppets look genuinely happy and well adjusted. 🤣

Just had a sample of the Eaton Fire ash that is in my driveway run on the department XRF. Is there titanium (new house paint)? Yup. Lead (old house paint)? You betcha. Heavy metals? Check. Treat that ash like it's toxic folks (because it is)

The tldr is use an N95, gloves, long sleeves, good boots and a tetanus shot or booster. The ashes and wreckage from this tragedy (or any other urban fire) is nothing to fool with.

Wishing everyone comfort and safety.

A good example of why we shouldn't always get what we want.

I had the good fortune of meeting Terry Pratchett in 2005 for a very pleasant split second.

I always dreamed of getting the dual signature and damn, am I glad I didn't.

Took these photos when walking the Lafayette resevoir on January 1st. Bald eagles are super rare around here. I don't think it's a good omen, but I'll take it anyway.
