Someone found a typo in a small lib of mine on GitHub. Instead of just fixing it, rolling their eyes and moving on, or any other option, they decided to open an issue with a screenshot of that single line and the text “wtf bro”.

I can’t fathom why that seemed like a good use of time to them 🙃

How absolutely desperate is @microsoft.com @microsoft365.microsoft.com to sell their AI mess? Well; today they emailed (spammed) a mailbox we use exclusively for our support ticket software. So I *know* that email didn’t sign up for any lists, and yet we get spammed anyways. Absolutely pathetic.

The new iOS thing that screens calls for me is neat. Today it screened a caller that was some AI voice scam.

The future really is just a bunch of AI talking to itself.

dear c/c++ programmers who are smarter than me: is there any guidance as to when and why gcc will pick a function marked "weak" over one that isn't, and why that choice seems to have changed between versions? godbolt.org/z/doPsq8hhz
a screenshot of the compiler explorer setup from the provided link it showcases a small cmake project that has several files: a "strong.cpp" with a function that has c linkage named "is_this weak", returning a bool with the value false. a "weak.c" that also has a function named "is_this_weak", marked with the "weak" attribute, returning a bool with the value true. a single header is included in both of those source files that declares that function, again with the weak attribute applied. the "main.c" file includes the header, and in the "main" function, returns a 1 or 0 based on the result of calling the "is_this_weak" function. to the right of the source files are a pair of stacked compiler outputs, both have their disassembly to their rights. the top, using x86-64 gcc 10.3, the bottom using x86-64 gcc 10.4. the top compiler output finishes with the text "Program returned: 1". The bottom compiler output finishes with the text "Program returned: 0".

welp, I figured it out. Turns out it was a "weak" definition of the "is writable" callback that always returned false. for whatever reason, *that* was the one that the linker picked, instead of the actual implementation. looks like gcc 10.4 changed how it picked impls 🙃🙃🙃 godbolt.org/z/31hcM9b9W

Any of y'all have experience doing USB MSC? I've got it to work a few times (enough to write some test files), but no matter what I tweak my "disk" keeps showing up as read only! I've spent days on this and am losing my mind.
