when you rely on elite advocacy to make change, you tend to end up with reforms that are acceptable to elites. here, in cleveland, that means neoliberal reforms. when you rely on elite advocacy you tend to reproduce neoliberalism
congrats tanmay. this is the power of non-endorsements by CCDP. the executive committee should be abolished

you know the mayor's plan for CMSD is good and moral and just when the chamber of commerce supports it!

RTA will be cutting service next year, but hey the climate champion mayor will save us one backroom deal at a time.

for a while i avoided socialist organizations because i was skeptical of the label. instead, i searched for an organizing community with the nonprofit world. now i know the nonprofit world has no interest in organizing

smoking weed with a over 70 year old socialist after he buys you lunch ++++++

i guess speaking truth to power is not one of my councilor-elect’s skills
November 14, 2025 at 6:28 PM
teri wang, i think, is an incredibly useful tool for mayor bibb’s plans to dismantle any civilian oversight of police

its funny to me how reports about food stamps and flight delays map so well to working class and middle class woes. much difference if you ask me!

i think this is a good point and i worry about folks who don’t draw the same lesson because i suspect many of them imagine themselves to be the next one in a billion hero set to save the wretched masses
The thing about Mamdani is that he’s a talented politician but not otherworldly or one in a billion, he’s just a competent guy with popular ideas who ran against an entitled piece of shit and to me it’s a lot more optimistic to imagine 1000 campaigns like his than to view him as a unique phenomenon

it is very brave to delay shutting off a person’s utilities
We're announcing a 30-day moratorium on utility disconnections.

The federal shutdown and cuts to SNAP benefits have placed an unfair and unexpected burden on households. No one should have to choose between keeping the lights on and putting food on the table.

so how'd those pre-primary endorsements work out for progress?
November 5, 2025 at 1:07 PM
before any other results come in, i gotta say one reason i'm very proud to organize with ellen kubit is she can turn out the vote. increased turnout at Lakeview Estates over 2021 and crushed the field in our ward by precinct - her precinct B had 33.5% turnout; on average the ward had 23.8% turnout
