I am absolutely over the moon that my book “The Republican House Divided: Civil War Memory, Civil Rights, and the Transformation of the GOP” is officially published TODAY!

After years of hard work, I am incredibly proud. Thank you to everyone who has made this possible 📚🐘🗃️

This is your regular reminder that most "historical photo" social media accounts are garbage misinformation nostalgia factories.

Very much looking forward to this tomorrow. Will be interesting to see how it goes over with a Canadian audience after I've spent so many years speaking in the US.
A reminder to anyone in the Halifax area that I'll be speaking at St. Mary's University next week about my ongoing research on Lincoln's descendants. Should be fun!

Guys, this cake picture is killing me!
James Cameron's Aliens (1986)
Carrie Henn was perfect as Rebecca "Newt" Jorden. She was only 9 during filming! This is her only film; she's a teacher in California.

(I don't know who the cake is for, because the filming took place in the fall and all these actors were born in the spring or summer.)
