This notion of acute response as a related but distinct type of resilience appeals to me. For other people thinking in this vein, would love to hear how this sits with you.
Interesting piece. Started thinking about recent Finnish work suggesting a community resilience framework, which separates acute resilience (immediate response capacities) from basic resilience (e.g. more long-term adaptive capacity, social cohesion, and democratic stability). Curious of thoughts?

Very glad to see that @standupforscience.bsky.social is partnering with @indivisible.org for the April 5 Day of Action - standupforscience2025.org/upcoming-act... Science advocates must deploy new skills, find common cause & build large-scale solidarity. This is a great starting place.

Kristi Noem billed South Dakota taxpayers more than $640,000 in personal travel-related costs, including a six-day trip to Paris, a bear hunt in Canada, a trip to Houston for dental work to fix her smile, and a book tour. But she can afford a $50,000 Rolex for a prison porn photo op in El Salvador.
Kristi Noem refused to say who financed some of her travel. It was taxpayers who were on the hook
An Associated Press analysis of recently released travel records found more than $150,000 in expenses tied to Noem’s political and personal activity.

This article highlights why more “crazy motherfuckers”are likely going to kill more extremely wealthy, “heartless, motherfuckers.”

Society has reached the tipping point on inequities. Especially those leaving the masses to suffer and die.
