- isn't controlled by a corporation
- uses a simpler protocol
- allows you to move your account between instances at the push of a button

This seems to be part of a trend of people thinking luddism == tech is bad. I am a luddite because I use tech in a way that minimizes harm. I use local ML models that I train myself. LLMs? Nope. Radar hook echo detection? Sure.
