I recently reread Sense & Sensibility and watched the 1996 film in theater. It’s still my favorite Austen novel and my fav film adaptation of her work. I’m Elinor by family role but Marianne in mood and the phrase ‘inside you there are two Dashwood sisters’ kept coming to mind as I reread the book.

Every time I start feeling despair I am reminded that many, many people want to help, actually.
Each year I teach English composition, I think of new ways to theme and organize their learning and projects. I’ve experimented with different ways of incorporating speculative fiction into my class before now, but this fall it turned into a class on rhetoric and meaning in speculative fiction.
