@Peterlewis55.bsky.social great chat with u tonight on some very important subjects. Hope u don't mind me screenshotting thrm here as a continuation for any1 who may have caught my original post at the start. It was a good thinking exercise, even if we didn't change the world.

Sport as a form of exercise & therefore good health outcomes has its place providing useful info, but the amount of coverage on this area seems limited, so leaving an angle on sports news that's often about either its investment or competition, of which neither has much relevance to society at large

It was difficult reading news on the #Cloudflare event because, as many people will know, misinformation & disinformation is rife online, so I've developed a strategy, be it takes me a bit longer, to filter it out.

Cloud technology like AI, is useful in the right context, so best used with caution.

Simply Put...

The reason why I'm still using Twitter today.

Over the yrs on that platform, I've written threads on subjects I've studied & have experience in, whilst making valuable connections with like minded people who also still use it, so I'm not using it because I want to endorse its owner.

Link to the other platform, to a thread I wrote about the day I spent at Sir Patrick Moore's house that was a great day full of #astronomy & lovely ppl, but who many now sadly, like Patrick, have since passed away but their legacy lives on with superb memories I'll never forget

A yr after spending a day at astronomer Sir Patrick Moore's house, I attended an astronomy presentation on his work, in London at the Royal Institution - 1 presenter was Dr John Mason. Link to screenshots of vids & link to 1 of those videos I took of it. @rigb.org photos.app.goo.gl/LmCyS8p5jfP3...

I wrote a short astronomy comets asteroids thread...

It seems that Comet 3I/ATLAS's immense sublimation, a process where a comet's solid ice turns to gas, as opposed to being melted, due to the Sun's heat, suggests it hasn't been affected by many interstellar objects yet. In this case, its non gravitational acceleration by off gassing, is amplified...

Asteroids are more solid & usually made of rock with some metallic materials mixed in, but sometimes there's a mixture. An e.g 1I/ʻOumuamua's composition was 1st thought to be that of an asteroid, but later it was classed as a comet from its off gassing behaviour, so it's more #comet like in nature.
November 16, 2025 at 9:38 PM
Some #Comets have very eccentric orbits (not influenced by planets & often come from the Oort cloud) like Borisov, but also can accelerate (increase in travel speed) due to off gassing materials as they whizz past the solar system. Some space objects can have a mix of both comet & asteroid material.

- I reckoned the speed (of the flood water not my car!) was about 1 inch per 2-3 seconds, which is quite fast & I remember watching the edge of the water move across the dry road. Puzzlingly, it appeared to come from another area entirely even though the field next to circled area, was very flooded.

- there were stopped cars on other side of the flood water. Someone must have rung the police who put warning signs up but as I was reversing (in exact spot circled) I noticed the flood water creeping rapidly across towards my car. It was scary as had no time to panic so quickly drove back other way
