Yeah, now that HBO Max is no longer funding Sesame Street, it's now recommended for babies to be watching Netflix instead (following their Netflix HepB vax, of course).

♫ A thimbleful of butternut makes the barley water go down, the barley water go down, the barley water go down... ♫

Anyway, I'll be back at your churchmic tomorrow doing something that starts with the words "Dear god." And it's not by XTC.

All I know is that @dana-what.bsky.social now likely has a new career goal, getting packaged with Parmigiano Reggiano. Doesn't even need to be in an acting project, so long as they're packaged together.

I will never know how Kermit survived this one; it's possibly the meanest thing he ever said.

And living the rest of your twenties surrounded by the rich and powerful makes it far less likely you'll be in a position to learn what a healthy relationship between equals actually looks like. 7/7

I'm no fan of Nuzzi's, but my sympathies here broadly lie with her, and the point-and-laugh aspect is bothering me. Having a famous, strong-willed sugar daddy as your formative adult relationship is bound to distort you. 6/7
November 18, 2025 at 8:59 PM
Most people spend their 20s figuring out who they are, what they really want, what their boundaries are, what they will and will not put up with. A relationship with someone who has all that figured out has a built-in power imbalance. If the older person is famous and powerful, it's even moreso. 5/6

I remember my sophomore year of college seeing the freshman girls coming in and thinking, "Wow, they're really immature." SO much development is still happening in your late teens and early twenties; and even after the brain is fully developed, there's often much more maturing to do. 4/6

And in a cultural moment when MAGA is pivoting to "maybe pedophilia isn't so bad," it's worth examining people's reactions to this story and the way people think of turning 18 as automatically conferring complete maturity. But that's a legal definition, not a moral or developmental one. 3/6
November 18, 2025 at 8:59 PM
I mean, Nuzzi and Lizza are both awful, but Lizza is awful because he's taking advantage of a misogynistic society that confers power on him. Nuzzi's awful at least in part because powerful men used her, and she seems to carry trauma from that. (The organized closet that she nearly cried over!) 2/6

What strikes me is the Olbermann sugar-daddy relationship that involved him paying for college. She was barely out of high school. The brain is still developing until you're 24. People are laughing about her string of age-gap relationships, but I think it may be more of an imprinting thing. 1/6

Is the horse next to her in the kitchen as I initially thought or is he leaning in through the kitchen window and has a very long and very flexible neck?

This ghostly galloper takes full responsibility for any broken dishes. Next time he promises not to jump out from behind the window curtains. Or the hand towel. Or whatever that's meant to be.
