In "Miracle Monday," which I think is one of the best Superman stories ever, the "meek, mild" Clark persona is a costume, BUT, vitally, who Clark/Superman really is at heart is still the decent, kind person raised by the Kents. The first two chapters are about formative moments in his childhood.

Silver Age Superman is, at its best, a delightful overstuffed wonderland of fever-dream plotting and panels like these.
Superman can never remember the words to "Chim Chim Cher-ee," but he always has a good time, and that's what counts. (Top left caption: "Moments later..." I went looking for the Japanese study Park cites and he seems to have misread it; two shots were given 5 months apart, not just one shot, over the course of the year-long study. (Still, I'm waiting for Novavax; I love not having side effects!)

I had it in my head that Henry Mitchell was a court reporter, but I just realized I got that idea from a throwaway gag in "Obnoxio vs. the X-Men."

Ms. Javins, I am appalled at DC's knee-jerk decision to fire Gretchen Felker-Martin and not only cancel the "Red Hood" comic she was writing but also apparently have stores withdraw the one published issue from shelves and delete it from your digital storefront. Felker-Martin was known for being sharply and publicly outspoken on controversial topics and there is no way DC editorial did not know this in advance. To suddenly fire her and cancel her book because she spoke disrespectfully of a man who had publicly demonized trans people and falsely blamed them for a disproportionate number of mass shootings (and in fact was doing so at the moment he was shot) is a horrifying capitulation to the reactionary forces in our current government and a case of extremely false equivalence. As a trans woman, Felker-Martin is a part of an oppressed minority who regularly find themselves in danger in this society, a danger that is only being exacerbated by violence-stoking bigots like Charlie Kirk, a man who literally repudiated the very concept of empathy. A vocal transphobe, he would have reacted with glee had Felker-Martin been murdered; to equate her public satisfaction at Kirk's death with the stoking of violence and hatred that Kirk dedicated his life to is dishonest. Please un-do this rash and indefensible decision as quickly as you made it.
