Eight Republicans joined every Senate Democrat to block sweeping government funding legislation from advancing Thursday amid ongoing negotiations around a potential offramp to avert a lengthy shutdown of several agencies. The Senate voted 55-45 against moving forward with a six-bill package that would, among other things, fund the departments of Homeland Security, State and Health and Human Services, as well as the Pentagon. The measure accounts for more than 75 percent of discretionary spending across the federal government, and programs relying on this money will shutter if Congress cannot reach a deal by 12:01 a.m. Saturday.

I kind of assumed "race traitor" to be a civil war, reconstruction, or Jim Crow term, but nope - it's pretty new.

From 1880 to 1990, usage remains negligible and flat. There is a barely perceptible fluctuation around the 1960s, likely correlating with the Civil Rights era, but it does not sustain. Between 1990 and 2012, a distinct upward trend begins, showing a steady but gradual increase in the phrase's appearance. From 2013 to the present, the trend line turns vertical, indicating an exponential spike in usage that continues to rise sharply through the end of the dataset.

This is such a weird assertion - especially from a journalist with a big account on here. Obviously, some fundraising might cross the line by being crass/tasteless, but this seems like a big issue for the midterms. IDK what The Rules are.
