I’d get the British Museum to lend some of their vast collection of cuneiform tablets.

It’s done the usual thing of combining fraud (which definitely must be investigated and stopped) with error, which is far more common and far more complicated. Error needs to be detected and sorted out.
Treating error as fraud mostly leads to loads of extra costs and many other problems.

On my way to the station on Thursday, I missed two buses because they both pulled away from the stops ahead of time. It’s extra galling when the indicator announces the bus as “due” when it’s already gone.
Walked in the drizzle instead.

Let’s chat about the paper form.
It’s fine but I have a couple of ideas for making it quicker to capture later.

Very much so.
You’ve reminded me that two major employers* were offline earlier this year due to cyberattacks, and recently we had dozens offline due to an Amazon Web Services outage.
*Co-op and Marks and Spencer.
Plus: power cut that took out Spain and Portugal. They never expected that either.

Good.
There is also the erroneous assumption that all employers have digital access. Some don’t, for example in rural areas or for reasons of disability.

I’m really looking forward to a chance to listen to this episode. “Design for real life” is a favourite book - I’ve bought dozens to give away, and now I don’t have to because Eric Meyer and Sara Wachter-Boettcher made it free to read:

I found that guide immediately and personally useful. In particular, the clarity of the statement about US 'fair use' being different to UK 'fair dealing'.

It is indeed. I happen to really like them but definitely strange.
A friend used to work for Cadbury - he said they were really good originally but got “value engineered” into the oddity they are today.
I don’t exactly know why I like them, I just do.

The judges chose a knitter who badly ran out of time in the first challenge and was on the less-successful team on the second challenge.
I’m definitely losing patience with forcing people to do stuff in far too little time, and maybe “sheep to sweater in 24hrs” is that too.

I haven't seen that but indeed it sounds quite relaxing.
Whereas this show (Channel 4, UK) was forcing people who could usually knit at their preferred pace to knit super-fast and with outrageously large needles.
Reviews are mixed, but this person liked it

The ex-diver is so fantastic that this needle-based Bake Off wannabe is 80% better every time he’s on screen. He absolutely makes this show
