We rented one at Tywyn that was right on the beach, a short walk along the promenade to a very good pub, and with more easily walkable eating/drinking options a little inland. The beach was about 2m / 10ft below the little wall with handy steps down. Via Lounge Holidays

Thanks @northernballet.bsky.social for wonderful performance of “Merlin” yesterday evening. Loved the interpretation and energy sustained through final show of the run.

Sorry to miss Leeds friends - chatted out after full-on #SDinGov. Will be back, especially if new-to-me train route works out

As a frequent traveller through the user-savage London Euston train station, I greatly appreciate an astonishingly innovative aspect of Leeds station: seats with plenty of legroom/luggage space on the platform with a good view of a decent departure board. Such luxury!

Thanks everyone for another terrific #SDinGOV

Train journey south is an opportunity to get started on the sticky notes from my workshop on #ErrorRates and #DataQuality. A lot to reflect on

Plus, need to update @pixlz.com as she had to miss out due to family emergency.

Today’s episode of #FixTheForms relates to this visit to the GP. Husband has tremor caused by anti-rejection drugs. There’s no way he can write small enough to fill in this label - or any of the other 4 pots he has to do

Our garden is brown and crispy, so I have mega hollyhock-envy for these in a front garden on my local walk

Highly recommend Hull. We finally made it there a couple of years ago and really enjoyed it. The “museum quarter” is conveniently packed with good traditional pubs and interesting museums - so many museums that we returned a year later to do more of them.

A couple of small items for #CraftFinish to get the month’s tally started. Two little drawstring gift bags.

Made quite a few of these now and I’m getting into the rhythm of them.

In today's episode of #FixTheForms, Companies House emailed me to tell me I have do to something or other in "autumn 2025". What sort of a deadline is that? 1st September? Some other date? And why tell me about it in June, which is "summer" in this hemisphere?

It's a mystery. And confusing.

Popped into the garden between rain showers to discover that the peonies are having their moment of glory

(5/n) #ContentDesign folks will have immediately spotted that the phone number in this message is not the same one as in the booklet.

But I'm going to try the webchat, I collect these experiences for #FixTheForms

Oh dear, the webchat can't do it, so onto ...
June 1, 2025 at 12:28 PM
(4/n) I needed to use 'Settings'. where I find an instruction.
"It’s not possible to change your preference here at the moment, as your policy is pending renewal. You will be able to amend this here once your policy has renewed or you can let us know via webchat or call us on 0330 018 4175."
June 1, 2025 at 12:28 PM
There is a 'what you need to do' section.

Notice that if I did want to renew, but some of my details have changed, it would be very easy to follow the instruction 'you don't need to do anything' and miss the instruction immediately below where I would in fact have to do something.

Arcane bit of random stuff: I’m currently discussing with a museum about donating a historic ledger that we believe to be duplicate records of property transactions, found in a box of my late father’s papers.

Back from a splendid train-based holiday in Scotland, after a very enjoyable #AgileManc

One fat quarter hit my stash in Manchester, but somehow another 5 and an irresistible Highland coo panel are my souvenirs from Inverness.

A modest #CraftFinish today - some rhubarb from the garden turned into rhubarb and ginger marmalade.

I’m determined to label and decorate the jars as they are made this year rather than having to do dozens in a mad rush in December.
May 10, 2025 at 4:03 PM
The garden is definitely wilting a little due to lack of rain and sandy soil. The tulips are all over, but the first poppy has appeared to cheer me up.

I may have to start a new thread on #DoNotNeedAI

Today: use AI to analyse complaints, from someone who admits he's not an expert.

Counter-suggestion: Read some complaints and think about them. Yes, you, senior manager. You'd learn a lot.

The back is combination of improv pieced blocks from mostly flannel shirts and larger pieces from shirts

Chose to do bias borders to create a bit of contrast with the centre checkerboards

#CraftFinish today, a quilt that I started in 2022 but set aside for ages partly because sewing bias borders from well-worn flannels was and is a daft idea even though I starched and starched.

My Dad’s flannel shirts for my young nephew plus a charm pack of homespuns.

How about some weigela?

From my local walk.

A small #CraftFinish today

I had an orphan fat quarter that didn’t seem to go with any other fabric in my stash, then had the idea that it would made a couple of little gift bags when combined with some leftover blue fabric from using a sheet as a backing.

I also practiced making a zipped tote bag with a few leftover bits of fabric and some denim scraps. It came out a slightly odd shape but the young fan doesn’t mind, phew
