Humanist. Misanthrope. Conflicted.
WaPo putting lipstick on the shutdown pig.

Which means that the Trump DOJ has finally finished removing all of the Republican names from the files.
November 11, 2025 at 10:24 PM
Tell that to the Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services.
November 11, 2025 at 10:20 PM
And now that the Ds proved that they don't have the will to hold the line in a fight, a great many people in Nebraska and elsewhere will conclude that they are _indeed_ responsible for Trump's SNAP fiasco.

The D's shouldn't have engaged in this fight if they weren't going to stick. Damned fools.

Focusing on Schumer is what they WANT you to do. But every damned Democrat in the Senate sought political cover behind the eight "safe seats" that handled the formal capitulation to the Trump Republicans in the shutdown fight -- and now they hope Schumer is the one that ends up nailed for it.

🎯
The ONLY claim Democratic Senators can make without being obscene now is that they aren't openly Republican.
November 11, 2025 at 7:51 PM
The other real news, sadly, is that there isn't enough coherence and discipline among Democrats in the Senate to hold a line in a fight.
November 11, 2025 at 7:45 PM
It's sad that so many don't know that.
November 11, 2025 at 2:31 PM
If you're feeling betrayed this morning, it's because you've been betrayed. Eight "safe" Democratic Senators provided political cover for the other 37 Democratic Senators like Schumer in the vote to appease Trump again.

No. But I feel real sadness when it dies.

The thoughtful response to a statement like "things were objectively better in X" is to ask "in what respects?"

To paraphrase Kant: dare to ask.
November 11, 2025 at 2:40 AM
The war is over. There's noting in the party worth fighting over anymore.
November 11, 2025 at 1:42 AM
Time to write the Democratic party off. People that still believe in representative small-d democracy need an alternative to both D and R.
November 10, 2025 at 11:37 PM
If they haven't learned it by now, it's not going to. Time to write the Democratic party off -- the only reason to vote for anybody with a "D" by their name is that they're probably less disinterested in governing than the person with an "R" by it.
November 10, 2025 at 11:34 PM
Maybe it's time to accept that BOTH parties are just tools of a behind-the-scenes political establishment that use them as part of their "divide and rule" scheme? The fix is in.
November 10, 2025 at 3:45 PM
Yes, the DOJ has finally finished redacting every named Republican and Friend of Trump from them, so they can be released now.
November 10, 2025 at 3:40 PM
The question is: what in the hell is wrong with the others?

The question is: what in the hell is wrong with the others?

Unless the "deal" includes a written, signed public statement from Republican House and Senate members that they're ready to stop kissing Trump and MAGA ass, it's no deal at all.

Too soon. Shutdown needs at least another 23 days to get the message though to the MAGA.
November 9, 2025 at 9:58 PM
The shutdown needs to continue for at least another month so that the American people can actually see what this means for them. Texas Republicans won't change until they stare hunger and medically-induced bankruptcy in the face.

As a boy, I used to fly in a DC3 at an altitude like that. You knew you were in an airplane, and there was a reason every seat pocket had a barf bag in it. The speed was a lot lower too though. Going over mountains was better than a ride at the fair.
