Humanist. Misanthrope. Conflicted.
There are going to be MASS RESIGNATIONS from ICE as its employees decide that they just can't take part in the abuse and murders anymore.

Yeah -- right.

Yes, but none of us will do anything to put an end to it anyway.
January 8, 2026 at 1:27 AM
Bye, bye, ... American pie...
January 8, 2026 at 1:18 AM
Ooooooooooo -- "strong criticism."

Wow!

THAT'S going to hurt the Trump people's feelings...

Guessing Billly cried when he heard about Charlie.
January 7, 2026 at 11:37 PM
I welcome constructive inputs on how I should go about that.

The time has come, but I don't know if there's anyone in the United States today that could write such a declaration.
January 7, 2026 at 11:02 PM
GOP lawmakers as a group are a bunch of spineless woosies, and most of them -- certainly in MY state -- WANT what the Trump administration is dishing out. The best I can hope for from Cruz and Cornyn is what we're seeing -- abject silence -- while behind the scenes they probably toast success.
January 7, 2026 at 10:49 PM
More of this to come -- and the rich and well connected in our country (on the left AND on the right) continue to do nothing to stop Trump.

You _might_ think that they want the rest of us to be terrified as we watch the collapse of the country and the rule of law we thought we had.
January 7, 2026 at 10:46 PM
You've got to wonder just what the HELL it's going to take for the rich and well connected of America to put a stop to the Trump administration.

Or are they all rooting for MORE of this? Not hard to think of at least two Supreme Court justices that most likely are.
January 7, 2026 at 9:02 PM
Note from Politico.
Just ignore all the bullshit Rubio and the rest are dishing out -- this is what's REALLY happening.
January 7, 2026 at 8:58 PM
Bound to happen sooner or later. And more to come as long as the establishment -- left and right -- continues to be complicit in the actions of the Trump administration.
January 7, 2026 at 8:47 PM
What will Venezuelans that return to their country do to ensure that the country's resources are used to the benefit of all the people rather than just the top few percent?

Democracy suffers horribly when faced with run-away economic inequality.
January 7, 2026 at 5:35 PM
Alas, this is what appeals to 77 million adult American voters -- and they will outlast Trump.
January 6, 2026 at 7:46 PM
In the event of a Chinese military attack on Taiwan, I would expect the first U.S. reaction to involve bombing TSMC into rubble.

Or at least that WOULD have been my expectation before DOD was turned over to Trump and his clowns. As it is, who knows?

The Trump administration is obsessed with squeezing more money out of Big Oil. It's just bad luck for those countries in the Western hemisphere (Venezuela, Mexico, Canada etc.) that happen to have large oil reserves that put them in the crosshairs.
January 6, 2026 at 5:17 PM
What upsets most of us though is being forced to recognize how MANY judgment-impaired adults there are in our country. Those that focus their loathing on Trump or his troops are just trying to avoid dealing with the reality that 77 million of us don't give a damn about things like the rule of law.
January 6, 2026 at 5:07 PM
Do not be fooled by the Trump administration's antics about Maduro's "crimes." Defending a revolution against powerful interests like those of Big Oil in league with the U.S. government was inevitably going to be a nasty business, certain to end badly for the Venezuelan poor and indigenous.
January 6, 2026 at 4:59 PM
Oil companies made sure that the upper classes in Venezuela were taken care of. So those classes too were unhappy with Chavez. Many of the better off fled the country when it was clear that being "taken care of" was coming to an end. The U.S. attack on the Chavez revolution has been relentless.
January 6, 2026 at 4:55 PM
A lot of Venezuelans placed there hopes for a better future in Hugo Chavez, who was determined that the country's vast oil resources would benefit the people of his country rather than the multinational oil companies.

U.S. policy toward Venezuela has been driven by this for decades.

Not an Onion fan I take it?

Should have polled three options: U.S., Venezuela, Chevron
January 5, 2026 at 5:34 PM
Yes, it's our responsibility -- no question about it. But to anyone that would like to help I say "welcome aboard."
