I grabbed A HISTORY OF VIOLENCE during the Criterion sale and it’s still one of my favourites. The entire cast is incredible, and Cronenberg knocks it out out of the park with so many themes that keeps you thinking while after it’s over. I really wish Viggo got more award attention for this one.

If you told me that this movie about a group of US soldiers during the Vietnam war get that sent on a mission and discover they have to fight dinosaurs of all things, I would have said this was stupid.

I’m so glad to be wrong.

My son is 9 and has autism spectrum disorder level 3. Yesterday at school he showed us what his brain is like. His words:

“This is my brain! My face is there (bottom, eyes nose and smile) the lines are my Autism, my brain says random words, those are my friends and that right there is love!”

Shane Blacks new movie PLAY DIRTY might not hit the highs of KISS KISS BANG BANG or THE NICE GUYS, but it’s a lot of fun still and even a mediocre Shane Black movie is better than most movies out there right now. It was fun, unexpected, had good action, and the cast is great

Picked up AMERICAN MADE from a thrift store and I gotta say, this is the perfect mix of “action star” Tom Cruise and “serious dramatic actor” Tom Cruise.

I enjoyed this war more then I expected

Okay took a break but back into it with THE RIGHT STUFF

Honestly first time I saw this I was bored by it, I don’t know why. It took me a couple tries and maybe as I got older my taste developed and I liked it a lot more, Rewatching it now I really like like it for a few reasons

Moving onto FIRST MAN, which I consider under appreciated for. Few reasons:

Damian Chazelle coming of his Oscar win of LA LA LAND, choosing an aesthetic that’s the exact opposite (using primarily hand held cameras and keeping everything at eye level to help the realism) was a bold move that works

Starting with APOLLO 13, which is probably my favourite Ron Howard film (with BACKDRAFT and RUSH rounding out the top three).

A great James Horner score (the same year he did BRAVEHEART, talk about back to back bangers), the sound design and effects are incredible, the insane attention to…

Gahhhhhh I got a bad sunburn Monday and now my body is starting to peel like Cronenbergs THE FLY.

Sooo K (the woman I was seeing who has a kid the same age as my youngest) decided to start this running goal, and I started doing it just because I had feelings for her still, but now I legitimately like running. It’s been a great way to burn off my stress and I am starting to feel great.

This shot is my earliest memory. I was 4 years old and my dad took me to see STAR TREK VI: THE UNDISCOVERED COUNTRY at the Cedarbrae theatre in Scarborough.

I remember I had to go to the washroom, my dad took me, and walking back in the theatre, this shot was on the massive screen.

My daughter wanted a “rainbow shirt” but we couldn’t find any in our small town. So we decided to make some instead

Apparently it was only the DVD, I wonder if the Blu ray has them as like deleted scenes or something though

Sorry I’ve been MIA, but the last two days we got hit with a really bad ice storm, no power for 48 hours, but we finally got it back yesterday afternoon.

My taxes back gift to myself, been meaning to get the series on Blu ray for a while since I’ve never seen them in HD, can’t wait to dive back into one of my favourite shows!

The snow is officially over my head. I’m done with shoveling this year
February 17, 2025 at 5:19 AM
We’re getting hammered with snow! Seriously the amount of snow I’ve shovelled is almost to my head and my driveway is turning into a trench

My kids school could have worded this better

You know when you read a book so good you want to tell people? Well Noah Hawley (whose show LEGION I loved…now it just needs to be released on Blu ray) wrote BEFORE THE FALL and I was hooked right to the end!

Quote post with the first DVD you ever bought.

My dad bought me a dvd player in 2002 for a couple months before we even had DVDs because it was at a thrift shop. In May of 2002 I bought Harry Potter and the Philosophers Stone from a grocery store with my own money, but it was full screen ☹️

My son and I watched PACIFIC RIM and it makes me happy how much he’s loving it (and how many times he’s said the word Kaiju).

Also I can’t believe this movie didn’t get an Oscar nomination for VFX, Sound, and Cinematography becusse it’s GORGEOUS to look at

Three day progression of a puzzle.

I can’t remember the last time I did one, but it was nice to focus on something and not let my brain go crazy thinking about things
