I like this approach--focusing on small realistic changes. It 's amazing how everyday food choices, like limiting food waste or supporting local producers can add up in a meaningful way. Happy Earth Day!! @beh353.bsky.social #beh353

As a future health professional, I plan to incorporate nutrition into my work by educating patients on balanced eating habits that are not solely based on popular press but have real science backing them up, such as using evidence-based guidelines. @beh353.bsky.social #beh353

During finals week, I am trying to find ways to ensure that I am getting my exercise in. One way I have been trying is using a treadmill while doing work at my desk. I have also been taking advantage of the warmer weather by walking outside more. @beh353.bsky.social #beh353

One key thing I am always going to look for in any nutrition post is whether they cite credible sources such as reputable health organizations like the WHO or CDC. I want to make sure that any claim is backed up by sources that I can trust. @beh353.bsky.social #beh353

One of my favorite childhood snacks growing up! Of course, now that I am taking this course, I have to be cautious of how much I should intake snacks like this but once in a while wouldn't hurt, just have to be careful. @beh353.bsky.social #beh353

Keeping things that you eat simple is the key to better health. That goes along with being able to pronounce the foods that you consume and identifying the ingredients in it goes a long way in bettering your health. #beh353 @beh353.bsky.social
Guess what? Nutrition rules have changed. Organic = healthy, artificial colors were the real problem, and if you can’t pronounce it, don’t eat it. Finally, a foolproof system!

After reading Tom's story, I can see the struggles he faces regarding obesity and self-esteem. As much as people tell him positive things, it's hard when his mind doesn't accept those words and instead, does the opposite, thinking negatively. It only makes things worse. #beh353 @beh353.bsky.social

I believe the more colorful the plate is, the more healthy and nutrients filled it has. In the past, I tried a plant-based diet for one week and I was shock at the results it gave me. My skin was glowing afterwards and I was down five pounds! #beh353 @beh353.bsky.social

One fact I didn't know is that fat-shaming not only hurts people's self-esteem but can also worsen health outcomes. Research shows stigma increases stress, leading to unhealthy habits. Moving forward, I will be aware of what I do that can offend others. #beh353 @beh353.bsky.social

For a long time, I used to struggle with lack of time to plan, shop, prepare and cook healthy foods. I feel like many students can relate to this because of their busy schedules and time is not of the essence to meal prep and we gravitate towards unhealthy meals. #beh353 @beh353.bsky.social

This is definitely something that took time for me to understand. I used to think that it would only take a few days for me to adjust to a new habit or even diet, but it takes time and hard work to achieve those healthy goals and I think it applies to most things in life #beh353 @beh353.bsky.social

I think this is interesting as we should be careful and aware of the food that we buy, especially if it is imported. The further the food has to travel the more it is at higher risk of carrying unwanted bacteria, versus if it is from local farms. #beh353 @beh353.bsky.social

This is in relation to fad diets like intermittent fasting because we could potentially be restricting our bodies too much, that we forget to give our bodies the nutrients it needs to function. For example, fats like omega-3s! #beh353 @beh353.bsky.social

I am a person who loves to snack on chips throughout the day whether I'm working or bored at home. I think to make this habit more nutrient-dense, I can start by making my kale chips at home or even slice up some potatoes and make homemade potato chips. #beh353 @beh353.bsky.social

We tend to overlook the benefits of fibers and we need to be educated on the nutritional benefits of it! In addition to the benefits mentioned below, it promotes regular bowel movements by adding bulk to stools and allowing it to pass through the digestive system! #beh353 @beh353.bsky.social
