History and science matter.
Just a reminder before the “big announcement” today.

Autism was discovered in 1911 and the modern definition of Autism came in 1943.

Tylenol wasn’t widely used until the 1950s.

Anyone trying to tell you that Tylenol causes Autism isn’t someone that should be taken seriously.

Who would you rather listen to for advice?
RFK wants to lean into “whole cell” vaccine technology, which has existed for decades, comes with increased risk of side effects and can take years to develop.

mRNA vaccine technology comes with far decreased risk of side effects and can take mere months to develop.

Make it make sense!

I just can't.
It’s mind boggling how many additional people this administration is killing.

“I have been in this business for over 50 years on the front lines of public health…And I can say unequivocally that this was the most dangerous public health decision I have ever seen made by a government body.”
Federal mRNA funding cut is 'most dangerous public health decision' ever, expert says
Many public health experts and scientists say they are stunned by Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr’s decision to cancel nearly half a billion dollars in federal funding for future vaccine develop...

THIS, among all the other current discoveries, is why we need to continue to fund scientific research!!!!!!!
HOW COOL IS THIS? Researchers have developed a DENTAL FLOSS that can DELIVER vaccines THROUGH the gums, a method that could one day offer a NEEDLE-FREE alternative for vaccination. This approach effectively stimulated immunity AND provided FULL protection against a lethal strain of influenza. 🧪🧵⬇️

I don't even know how to respond to this without ranting.
There are currently more kids in Texas with measles than there are transgender collegiate athletes in all of America.

Guess which one they want you to focus on.

When you are so busy with morning zoom meetings that your 'mid-morning' snack is still sitting unfinished now and you realize that you are not hungry for lunch at 12:48pm. And now the whole space time continuum thing is thrown off.
July 8, 2025 at 4:48 PM
My one cat is very inquisitive. When he gets the zoomies, I have started asking "What is your quest?" in the movie voice. Sometimes he stops and just looks at me. Sometimes he answers me [I don't understand the response]. Mostly he ignores me completely and goes on his zoomie way.
Carry on.

How it's going in LA - keep watch:

'Rosa Parks was just a woman on a bus... until she was something more. George Floyd was just another Black man stopped by police. Until he was something more.

Huerta is the something more of these immigration raids'
The arrest of union leader David Huerta is galvanizing a new element—solidarity:

“Right now, just in the last 14 hours, labor unions are joining together from far and wide, communities are reaching out in ways I’ve never seen,” Orr told me. “Something is different.”

Commentary: ICE arrested a California union leader. Does Trump understand what that means?
Unions in California are different from many in the U.S. because they are predominately people of color and immigrants. The arrest of a union president in L.A. will likely activate these unions to bec...

Um... 200 years before the 1970s, we didn't even have a president or Congress. That is when it all started. The framers couldn't conceive of Nixon, much less Trump, as Presidents, which is why Congress had to add the Impoundment Control Act in 1974. Overwhelmingly passed in both chambers.
Russell Vought: "Impoundment, which is also a possibility. We are dusting off muscle memory that existed for 200 years before President Nixon in the 1970s and Congress acted to try to take away the president's ability to spend less."

(Impoundment is literally illegal.)

Who is creating this list? I think it is long. Newest entry? Fema director didn't know the US has a hurricane season.
How many days in are we? WTAF.
The degree to which this administration doesn’t believe in or value expertise, knowledge, historical facts, and the sheer existence of peer-reviewed scientific research is mind-boggling.

Sigh. OK. Well - actually, this is NOT OK. Bird flu might not jump to humans, but maybe it will. That is the problem. We don't know for sure, but we should be prepared. Having knowledge to create vaccines quickly to combat a potential epidemic/pandemic is scientifically sound behavior.
June 2, 2025 at 1:45 AM
Data exists to support that vaccines are safe. This guy is not experienced with infectious diseases or epidemiology, so is not the best for this position and is not giving correct - or credible - information. Allow folks to get the shot if they want to - which means have insurance cover it.
Margaret Brennan totally exposes FDA Commissioner Makary for making it up as he goes and making conflicting recommendations in order to cast doubt on covid vaccines. He's so terrible during this interview that Brennan is left shaking her head as she wraps it up.

Yeah - it's unbelievable. And the market sure did boom, if you mean 'go boom'. big bada boom.
REPORTER: The markets today are way down. The worst day in years. Because of the tariffs. So, how's it going?

TRUMP: I think it's going very well. It was an operation like when a patient gets operated on.
