Former journo. Now more of a social media lurker.
Just found the first flaw in using the Xbox PC Game Pass on Geforce NOW. Basically one of the games, Jusant, got shifted to Xbox Ultimate Pass, along with all my saves. So i bought the game on Steam and have to start all over again. Meh. Thank goodness it's not a tough game. But urgh, starting over.

Contrary to popular belief, imho psychedelic music is very grounding. The musicians definitely know what they're doing. On the other hand, I've been entrapped by other types of music because it perpetuates or drives my delusions up.

Urgh. Lost my sense of smell and taste due to sickness. So now i'm just basically shoving food into my mouth without actually tasting anything. Urgh. So much urgh. I now have to eat to live, not live to eat.

God works in a weird way.

I found him again. This time i know his full name.

But he's still a mystery to me.

Should i pursue or not?

Hmm.

Of all the movies that want to be Jaws, The Host is the best. I think it’s as good as Jaws overall. It has great characters and inventive, elegant filmmaking, loads of humor, stinging moments of loss, and a great premise. And the creature is a classic.

TIL there is such a thing as a Smartwatch phone (yes i know of the Apple Watch, but didn't know there are cheaper iterations out there). Good for kids. Has GPS to track the kid's whereabouts, camera for video calls and speakers. I'm amazed, and i'm getting one when my kid understands tech better.

One lesson to take away from history is that prior to WWI, the left made all sorts of lofty noises about cross-border solidarity but as soon as war seemed likely, lined up behind their countries like good little soldiers. I generally don’t trust anyone to actually help countries beyond their own.
I’ve already done this rant before so I won’t subject y’all to it again but yes I long accepted the American left has no interest in helping countries not named America. Just how it is.

Chinese New Year is almost here. It's gonna be a year of transformation and looking ahead, forgetting about the past, and looking forward to the new things to come. Hoping that this year will be kinder to me and my loved ones.

I've learned to mostly rant only to close friends and family members nowadays. No point creating drama. I just want to lay low and do the work needed.

I'm still searching for the right movie to let my son experience going to the movie theatre. I'm trying to not look at sequels or prequels otherwise i have to explain a lot to him. I have already missed The Wild Robot. Hoping for a good original animated movie next year.

Also, just to add that i've become more reclusive on social media because i cannot stand the constant push of content. I want to read updates from friends and people i follow, not random people's videos. Hopefully Bleusky can bring a better socmed experience.

I'm sad that Twitter has turned into a Musk playtoy. It was the pivotal app to break news during the 2011 Arab Spring. But then again, 2011 was such a long time ago. 2024 is a different beast. Oh well, it was fun when it lasted. I will be more active here.
