Not really the point, but if I ever learn what a “pitch deck” is, I hope someone instantly shoots me in the head

So keep our family in your thoughts. These next few days and weeks will be rough, especially on my kids.

We're currently scheduled with the vet to say goodbye to her tomorrow afternoon. I'm sad for the loss of our sweet cat, but preparing my oldest son for this has been the hardest part. He loves this cat so much, and he has been convinced there is something we could do... but there just isn't anymore.

After she recovered from her latest skin condition, she was diagnosed with CKD (Chronic Kidney Disease). For a while, we had hope that a change in food and paying more attention to her fluid intake would help, but she was still consistently losing weight and getting weaker.

About 5 years after we adopted her, she got her first of several really bad skin rashes. She ended up getting one every year or two after, and the vet was never able to really diagnose why even with specialist input. The only thing that helped was a steroid shot, and that comes with its own risks.

When we got her from the shelter in 2014, she was already missing her left eye and was terrified of everything. She spent most of her first week with us hiding in the bathroom sink or in my desk shelf. Eventually she trusted us more and was the friendliest, gentlest cat I've ever known.
