I try to keep most of my posts upbeat, but my family and I have been dealing with some hard life stuff recently. Last month, I lost an uncle and a cousin (separate situations), and now we're being faced with some tough decisions and even tough conversations with our kids about our poor kitty.

A quirk of getting older that I just noticed: sometimes you learn something and then you have no reason to update that information in your head for the next 25 years.
Anyway, McDonald's no longer has a Mighty Kids Meal. And apparently it has been discontinued since 2001.

I dipped my feet into the Pacific Ocean for the first time last night.
Hot take: Atlantic > Pacific. If not for the surf possibilities I’d say it’s tied with Lake Michigan. It’s so cold! The beaches near my home are warmer than the Pacific, and they freeze over every year!
