I’m Steve and I design a build unique analogue cameras and accessories for most film formats. Chroma.Camera
I’ve built cameras around both their Mini and Square development units, but haven’t got to the point of being happy to release them. I did order a Wide development unit the other night though, so will be trying again with that!

I haven’t got the negatives back yet, but the spacing looks decent on the wrist individual scanned frames. I need to get my diptych practice in now.

I finally finished the roll of Portra400, and am happy to say that I’m now a half frame medium format convert 😀

The tank now has a friction fit lid with double TPU (rubber) seals to keep it watertight. The sheet caddy is now much easier to load and I’ve added a slot-in retainer for a small wipeable pad so you can make notes about the dev times etc.

It’s almost time to close the doors of #ChromaTowers for a few days of Christmas family
time so just a quick update on the EasyLoad compact SnapShot and double sheet dev tank I’ve been working on.

I’ve got a roll of #Portra400 in this new Pano (24x56mm) format film insert for my Six6SWC. Assuming the test roll works as it should, I’ll be able to offer both a 12 frame 6x6 and 24 frame Panoramic option from one compact medium format camera.

Stephen from KosmoFoto has released his early preview article about my upcoming Click camera. Thanks a lot for the write up, I’m excited for launching this early next year.

The updated caddy has a deeper frame, on 2 sides with a cutout at the bottom for liquid flow, so will hold the sheets better.

To test the new system, I’m also working on a new compact development tank, designed to take 2 sheets and use only 100ml of chemicals. The first beta tank wasn’t perfect, so I’m currently working on an updated design, but to come right back round to the point of my first post…it works 😀

Oh…there’s also a matching Superslim SnapShot camera, designed specially to use the new EasyLoad envelopes, which is around 25% smaller than my Standard SnapShot. This camera uses the same style compact lens cones and has a magnetic/removable ground glass.

This is the holder fitted into my SnapShot, with the envelope pulled out to expose the sheet. Once complete, the envelope is pushed back in and locks in place to protect the exposed sheet. You then just remove the holder, flip the envelope over, then expose the other sheet.

I’ve come to a design that is self-loaded, so you can use whichever film you want.

- Reloadable, so is a long-term option rather than single use.

- Considerably smaller and lighter than a traditional DDS sheet holder.

- Has a standard 4x5 style holder, so is compatible with all cameras.

Another first today is the number 1 #FX617 (6x17 medium format) camera that’s being shipped later on. This cone is for a Schneider 90mm f8 lens, and excellent all round option for 6x17 and smaller formats.

I’ve just built the first #SnapShot with my new compact lens cone design. The camera has the same removable main front plate, which I’ll be using for a future ‘Adventurer’ field camera accessory system, but the smaller cone now makes it easier to carry additional cones for multiple lenses.

These were from the first roll I put through my new FX617 a few weeks ago. Taken with Kodak Gold 200 in Port Sunlight (Wirral, UK) and a Schneider 90mm f6.8.
