Maybe Microsoft should do us all a favour and license Helvetica once and for all.

I'm all about the moissanite, baby.

300 is the entire "library" at some pop stations, with heavy rotation being as few as 20 songs.
December 8, 2025 at 3:02 AM
Radio? Low fidelity, disruptive advertising, and mindless banter aside, why would I want some corporate employee programming my listening from a library of 300 tracks supplied by the oligopoly they work for?

Boring books and bad writing predate the internet. Also, BookTok is just fan culture scaled to the extreme.

Photographers and visual artists have been asking these questions forever. Image manipulation tools have continued to evolve and we are constantly wondering if and how they fit into our workflows. The result has been some challenging art that is anything but AI slop, like the work of Sofie Crespo:

I prefer design limitations over the "let's do everything poorly" approach of some competing tablets. But I also use the iPad Pro as part of an ecosystem, so I am not as limited by these design choices as someone who would use it as their only device.

There are times when I would prefer a MacBook Pro for work on the go (Microsoft Word and Final Draft for the iPadOS are awful), but I rarely use these two apps on the road. It sounds like you want a Pencil-enabled touchscreen MBP. Your wish may soon come true, and I'd be tempted by such a machine.

I don't like the ergonomics of a MacBook Pro with an external display as my primary tool, so my tool kit comprises a Mac Mini with 27 inch display and an iPad Pro with a Magic Keyboard and Pencil. That way, I cover all the bases.

The Magic Keyboard adds a second USB-C power port, so I can use the built-in USB-C port with an HDMI adapter, external SSD, card reader, etc. It's not perfect, but it complements my desktop Mac and gives me a whack of tools in the process, but I see it as an adjunct.

I'm fine with Bluetooth headphones. They sound almost as good as my wired Audio-Technicas. If I were doing pro-level audio, I'd be using an external DAC, and I use a USB-equipped multi-effects unit for sound input on my Mac. So, the lack of headphone port doesn't bother me.

But that’s not the same as “non-pro.” My iPad Pro replaced $10,000 of equipment, including a 10.4 kg Wacom graphics display for drawing, a Macbook Pro, and a calibrated photo monitor for photo editing.

Pros like me need its industry-standard colour management, extremely accurate screen, outstanding stylus, compatibility with our desktop tools, and seamless integration with our clients‘ platforms and storage systems. It’s the wrong tool for non-interactive lecture-based teaching.

In a similar vein, my last croissant in Tokyo. Tell @wendyrg.bsky.social that the viennoiseries in Japan are off the charts because some of the top French chefs and pâtissiers set up shop there. Thanks to both of you for providing the information I needed to travel safely.

Can you please link to a study that demonstrates this. I'd love more information.
