that is a very good point - and who runs those independents and what principles their boards/management have (e.g. BBCQT) is never discussed in public.. time for a good documentary about that.

We might also wonder why the BBC entrusts episodes of its leading current affairs strand to outside producers. But that takes us back to Conservative govmt demands, under the guise of market liberalisation, that they shift spending to independents. The slow death of the BBC was planned long ago…

…the original sin - the ‘bias’ - did not originate in the BBC. Which makes it even weirder that some on the BBC Board decided to use it as a stick to beat the BBC management with, and trigger this existential crisis. They could have blamed the production company, sacked an editor, and moved on.

One strange thing about the BBC/Trump row is that the programme in question was actually made by an independent production company. Yes, the BBC producers and Panorama’s editor should have checked everything before it was broadcast. But…

Mogg's suit is his armour.

His cut glass accent and Etonian affectation are a force field.

Beneath them both, he's a rude, insufferable arse.
Jacob-Rees Mogg supports President Trump's right to sue the BBC

He then repeatedly asks Gillian Tett questions but doesn't let her reply, so Victoria Derbyshire has to step in and tell him off

Why I want the Government to abolish the two child limit.

Nearly 10,000 families in my constituency alone are being hit by the two child limit.

It pushes families into poverty, pushes extra costs onto the NHS, schools & councils & causes huge levels of harm. 1/4

Ruth Cadbury: Why I want the government to abolish the two child limit
Labour MP Ruth Cadbury argues the 'deeply unfair' two-child limit is driving 10,000 local children into poverty. She calls for abolition to lift 350,000 children out of destitution.

🎯 Davey is spot on. "We can have criticism of the BBC, but within that, we need to recognise how valuable an institution it is [and how] precious to our country. And that's one of the reasons why people like President Trump and Nigel Farage, want to undermine the BBC." 👏🏽~AA

The BBC isn't perfect, but it belongs to Britain not Trump.

Political leaders across the UK must unite in defending its independence from the White House.

Pretty much all affordability discourse could benefit from just posting this chart.

If you're in the better off America, all the luxury goods you want in excess are for the most part much cheaper. If you're in the poorer America, most of the shit you need to live/grow is more expensive.

According to deputy editor Kateryna Maiboroda, the channel was removed six times in one month on bogus “spam and fraud” grounds, suggesting coordinated mass reporting linked to Russian networks.

She says this is an attempt to not only destroy Ukrainian cities but also erase memory itself.

The most important concern today is conflict and harm to people.

While ridiculous politics flood the news limited progress had been made in reducing civilian casualties. Indiscriminate attacks cost lives.
