I will be blind for life. I have fractures in my skull that they can't fix. I can't sneeze or cough bc it's dangerous to. They pulled a piece of plastic the size of a nickel out of my eye. I had shards of metal, glass, and plastic behind my eye and in my skull. They said it was a miracle I survived.

Into the Woods

Hi, I'm Leticia, a freelance writer, editor and teaching artist. I write poetry, speculative fiction and horror focusing on folklore, the supernatural, body horror and our connections to the natural world.

Current WIP: Stories about how being embodied is weird and kind of sucks. #horrorwriterschat
Here we go with question 1:

Introduce yourself: tell us who you are, what you write and describe a current WIP (or published work if you don't have a WIP) badly.

Quote post and include the tag #HorrorWritersChat so others can find you.

It may be the end of summer, but who doesn't need a dose of aquatic horror? In my latest newsletter, Leticia’s Creative Obsessions, I recommend several books about bodies of water that explore our fears about what lurks below the surface. What are your favorite books about water or aquatic horror?

Fun fact: in the 1960s, Civil Rights protestors were given literal classes on nonviolent protest; they didn't all just spontaneously know what to do.

So, if you're planning on showing up, this weekend: read this comic. And if you're staying home, signal-boost it/link it around.
I did my best to compile as many protest safety notes as possible into a one page foldout zine! Coincidentally…it seems the file has breached containment…like it’s available for anyone to print or hand out 👀⚖️

Here’s the 3rd paragraph of Fox’s main story on the manhandling of Sen. Alex Padilla. It quotes the Trump regime as saying Padilla didn’t identify himself. Fox knows that’s a lie because they have video of him identifying himself. But they never call out the lie.
Fox is fascist propaganda.

Afterwards, Sen. Padilla framed what happened in exactly the right way:
