• both involve Indigenous men who suffered serious head injuries at the hands of police
• ASIRT recommended charges in both. Dumas: Crown said they wouldn’t prosecute. Rain: Crown agreed to prosecute but stayed charges

In other words, could City Council ask the Minister to review EPS's decision to promote a Constable to Sergeant? I hope not--that is so clearly within EPS's purview and none of Council's business that there shouldn't be anything to talk about. But that's basically what's happening here: (cont)

2. Is “disagreement” to be read as meaning *any* disagreement, or disagreement in an area in which both parties to the disagreement have, or arguably have, some jurisdiction? Because City Council indisputably has the authority to appoint commissioners, and the EPS indisputably has no role in it.

I always feel this way about the City Hall beat at the Journal. And then they push some Gunter and Staples stuff at me and I'm out. (Which is why I do pay for Taproot!)

I feel like Christy Clark was probably actually at least as ready to run as any of the others, but thought about blowing a million $ (or whatever) just to end her career in oblivion and was like "nah".
