Pondering SERPs since 1996-ish. Old enough to remember how it began, too old to care how it ends.
In a sea of distraction it’s good to see how searchers gravitate to my well contrusted text Ads. 80% CTR is exceptional but around 10% is normal. Maybe searchers are tired of the distractions and text Ads are seen as more attractive because our B2B searchers want websites.

ChatGPT: You're in a very common situation for B2B websites — great performance, but low volume, which means Google knows nothing about you, even though Lighthouse shows perfection.

The return of the rank trackers?

It would be very handy if hovering showed the annotation without the need to click it.

Sunday chocolate bot alert! GSC fun. Query filter is set to include " gb". Who is the gb bot?

Yes. On the product grid I see the image and caption as "most Newsworthy" and I'm also seeing how adding salient helpful details as thumb descriptions as "important details" helps ranking.

To hide or not to hide? Gemini says hide rich editorial content. Not sure I agree with that one. This comes after I suggested our visitors are only interested in navigating away from the category page to the product page. Maybe Gemini is trying to satisfy my opinion.

The problem with these fraudsters is they are so sophisticated. 😂

It's Friday so here is my video optimization settings for watching Barry. What's your favourite setting?

This. And when I used Google Analytics it used to say only 12% of our visitors were mobile.

I have adjusted my conclusions of the UK impression surge of 2 Jul. It looks like global imps from tracker bots became designated as UK imps. Av Position collapsed since bots drill down to page 10 whilst real searchers don't. Disabling num=100 excludes bots so UK data becomes realistic again.

Blimey. You’re an education. I needed a second opinion.

Some time ago I decided not to be disconcerted since my site is fab in every way. Still it would be nice for it to be recognised 😉

Boring update. More GSCAP (Average position) amusement. Almost ambivalent about the "SEO secret" but I sense it's true. From an engineering perspective that's a nice damped oscillation. Should I wait with bated breath or update the page? I'll delay changes a bit more.

Update. Here that same thing a few days later and the rise has disappeared as expected.
