I'm convinced that player prop bets are a secret FBI honeypot sting to catch athletes willing to cheat.

(And I promise you, his public statements are not indicative of closed-door meetings and phone calls and texts that have happened over the last 100 hours or so.)

(Not necessarily a political post, but rather a reminder that "polls" like this are set up to capture emotion and not intent or action, and traditionally contain "leading" language that biases toward specific responses.)

Finding out he had a PhD in political science and it all makes sense.

Ahhh shit.

He was so goddamn brilliantly, subtly, pointedly funny.

"You Make Me Feel Like Dancing" -- due to the difference in tone/aggression between the verse and chorus -- absolutely should've gotten a grunge cover. Is deserving of a postpunk cover.

And this one. It's very good. And then the song "Baby You're Just You" comes at the end and it goes trascendent. I swear to goodness, the solo at the end of that song is the most searing encapsulation of 20something angst and frustration ever recorded.

My most-played record from that year and still a monster. Mark Lanegan as a deeper-voice grunge version of Burton Cummings (the Guess Who), and it completely and absolutely works:

Have already seen a bunch of my faves here -- De La, Pixies, J&MC, Galaxie 500 -- but a few others that hit me hard that year. (It me, college radio music director, 1989):
