RFK Jr.’s statements regarding autism are profoundly inaccurate and insensitive. With 15+ years in the classroom, I can vividly recall the beautiful memories of the numerous kids on the spectrum; they are kind, brilliant, empathetic, generous, productive, and more than capable.

Claiming that the act of doing a Nazi salute was simply a symptom of autism is insulting to people with autism.

I’m currently writing my dissertation on how policy impacts education, and I just noticed that the Executive Orders signed under Biden are no longer accessible.

Biden’s first executive order directed federal agencies to amend policies to consider racial inequities. It has been pulled.

Even *if* the salute that looked identical to a Nazi salute was somehow not a Nazi salute, then it demonstrates that one of the most powerful people in the world is willfully ignorant of one of the most hateful gestures in history.

I'm seeing terms like "straight-arm salute" and "fascist salute" being used by some media today... those are not real terms. Google's Ngram Viewer has zero results for either one. It's a "Nazi salute," folks, just fucking say it. This shit's too fucked up to use hedgy language.

Invoking the words of MLK at the inauguration of a man who promised to implement policies destined to harm people is a disingenuous act of historical treachery.

It's fascinating to teach US History in an era where young people are strongly advocating for a more diverse, objective, and inclusive curriculum while the powers that be are doing everything to halt that push. We are witnessing both an ideological & generational divide in real-time.

As the plaintiff representing teachers in Dier v. Landry et al. concerning the Ten Commandments law (HB 71), it must be noted that the Middle District of Louisiana confirmed that HB 71 is unconstitutional in the Roake case. This means that complying with this request would violate the 1st Amendment.

Never forget that the attacks on public education, from suppressing teacher autonomy and bashing unions to passing anti-CRT/DEI/trans legislation and book bans, are designed to erode public education to pave the way for mass privatization.

The political battlegrounds surrounding history curricula are telling. Teaching objective history is not only crucial for societies to function, but to also survive & thrive. Authentic history provides a clear understanding of past events, injustices, achievements, & failures that shape today.
