Ember now builds on Vite by default (has worked for some time actually).
I am truly amazed by the ability of Ember, even being old, less popular and less sponsored, to keep reinventing itself in a good way: providing strong backwards compatibility and a clear path forward without stagnating in time.
Hot off the press!

6.8 released with some big features 🎉

@chris.manson.ie's herculean efforts are why vite landed in 6.8 🎉

Shipping proper (deprecations, CLIs, docs, tutorials, etc), is A TON of work, and the community helped get us there - esp on the docs and tutorials side - thank you to all who submitted a PR, opened an issue, or chatted in Discord!!

I've just been made aware of the term "work slop", and I have had an epiphany

LLMs have amplified the Dunning-Kruger effect in the workplace. People who don't understand why things are wrong are pushing LLM slop on experts who have to review and constantly push back across the confidence gap.

"velocity has a direction in a very high dimensional vector space" is a very @eaf4.com quote and a great thought to leave us with in a closing @emberfest.eu keynote 🎉

Today Mainmatter’s own @chris.manson.ie and Marine are speaking about the #EmberInitiative at @EmberFest.eu in Brussels. If you’re in town and want to talk about upgrading your #Ember app to use all the modern build tooling (#Vite, #GJS, etc.) make sure to say hi!

🙌 It’s @academiedesrenards.bsky.social and @chris.manson.ie on stage at #emberfest talking about @mainmatter.com #emberjs initiative. We achieved quite a lot, both pushing Ember forward as well as helping initiative members keeping their codebases modern and healthy. Great job Marine and Chris!

🚨⛏️ Call for assistance in @emberjs.com ⛏️🚨

We decided in the Tooling team meeting today to deprecate heimdalljs in ember-cli and hopefully remove it in ember-cli@7 🎉

This needs a RFC to be written and someone to implement the deprecation itself. Do you want to help out? Please get in touch!

Just had the weirdest bug...11ty was taking 500sec to rebuild on our designer mac for every change.

Me and @chris.manson.ie bisected the problem but it was a very innocuous commit...turns out the slowness was caused by the author name being uppercase...lowercasing it produced a x6 reduction 🤯🤯🤯 wtf

EuroRust isn’t just talks all day, it’s a gathering of Rustaceans and Rustaceans-to-be. Four days in total—in Paris—full of everything Rust! Also, please note that on September 1 we’re switching to late-bird ticket pricing, so make sure to get yours before that! 🦀

I'm sorry @notion.com but you crossed a line with this one. Your "Meeting detection" feature is not helpful; it is creepy.

Your docs don't go into enough detail on how you are doing this, so I'm now removing the Notion desktop app and recommending my colleagues do the same as a security precaution

Congrats on the .gts migration! 💪🏼 It’s great to see @embroider/template-tag-codemod in action. Shoutout to @chris.manson.ie and the Ember Initiative for helping to make it happen.
We just merged a 3000 files / 75k lines of code PR in our 2017 @emberjs.com app that moved us from .ts + .hbs => .gts

This would have never been possible without @embroider/template-tag-codemod and the work from the great @chris.manson.ie and other great members of the Ember.js community!

I had a couple of hours spare this afternoon, so I merged some pull requests and closed some issues for ProfileMe ✅

New to the skills section:
- Emacs
- Ember.js
- A few CMSs (Squarespace, Wix)
- Kubernetes
and more

Let me know what I'm missing ✌️

The Ember Inspector doesn’t support Vite yet. We’re changing that. It means rewriting builds, bridging AMD + ESM, and getting changes into Ember itself.
Here’s how we’re doing it 👇
