In honor of Internation cat day, Ophelia would like to show everyone why she’s a 100% meme cat material

Caturday is on!

34.8% of children in London live in poverty, and a large part of it is due to housing costs. We’re doing society such a disservice by optimizing for the wealthy obtaining assets rather then quality of life for the population

These scathing paragraphs do a good job at describing the lack luster vibe around wwdc this year. Previous attempts around VR and AI have stalled out and they’ve gone out of their way to make things worse for developers
June 7, 2025 at 12:25 PM
I love/hate the new vibe coding: If there’s anything developers hate, it’s having to maintain someone else’s code, and AI will only amplify this

So you end up with something that has the lifespan of a sand castle. It’s great for prototypes, but completely unusable as a foundation of a real product

This is so clever, putting this right in the path of least resistance rather then depending on an action, visiting branding pages, that almost no one does
OK, that's a lovely detail that should be a standard - if you right-click the logo on the lovable site you get a menu that offers the logo as black or white SVG and the whole brand guide as a zip.

What really stands out to me is how the filling is arranged so it looks great on the shelf while the back of the sandwich contains nothing but broken promises and empty dreams
Back in the Twitter glory days I had a long-running thread where I was attempting to taste and rate every single sandwich available on the Tesco meal deal. Sadly Elon had to come along and ruin that, so I'm left with no other choice: I'm starting again. On here. Let's go ...

This Caturday one of the neighbors was drilling and hammering something.

Ophelia was very displeased she was not consulted beforehand and strongly disapproves

Work of art
The problem with most machine-based random number generators is that they’re not TRULY random, so if you need genuine randomness it is sometimes necessary to link your code to an external random process like a physical noise source or the current rate of US tariffs on a given country.

Caturday. Let’s make sure to remember the little joys in life, like the morning sunrise shining on your face

Honestly I’m surprised the logo is still visible

Aside for the historical import of the moment, I have to also appreciate the power of a good orator

Obama was a shining example of how to use rhythm and pacing to grab the moment and make it momentous. Carney is also a master at delivering this
Carney: The system of global trade anchored on the United States.. is over. Our old relationship of steadily deepening integration with the United States is over. The 80 year period when the United States embraced the mantle of economic leadership… is over.

Are you sure it’s Caturday? It feels rather early for that

Classical Latin didn't have any definite (or indefinite) articles, but modern Romance languages do. So when did they emerge?

That highlighted "illo" is a transitional fossil that captures the change as it was happening 🧵

This can’t be overstated enough:

It is cheaper to help homeless with housing and counseling then it is to accept homelessness as a thing

It’s a deliberate and cruel choice driven by the idea they deserve eternal punishment
“In Finland, the number of homeless people has fallen sharply. Those affected receive a small apartment & counselling with no preconditions. 4 out of 5 people affected make their way back into a stable life. And all this is CHEAPER than accepting homelessness.”
Finland ends homelessness and provides shelter for all in need - scoop.me
In Finland, the number of homeless people has fallen sharply. Why? The country applies the "Housing First" concept agains homelessness.

I think the first sign of AGI is when it suggests a revamp of the education a system so it doesn’t have to answer the same stupid questions over and over and over and over
