Railway press officer, Norwich City follower, terrible bass player.
NIMBY latest in Whitstable - proposed new homes on the outskirts are “parasitic” as people will use them to “work in Canterbury and London”.
I’ve lived in east Kent and commuted to London for 13 years, so I guess I am also a parasite? Or does that depend on where exactly I live in Whit? Anyone?

@jim.londoncentric.media hi Jim I’d like to subscribe but I’m being asked to pay in Krone? Is that a Bluesky thing?!

Sorry for the poor quality pic but I had the joy just now of seeing the Night Ferry at London Victoria’s platform 2 popping up in the Ipcress File (the 1960s version). That’s Michael Caine there escaping the country. Or attempting to.

Zooming in on the window reflections, I wonder if that’s Reading’s old/then new ticket hall? And is the footbridge the old Reading span?
Or have I got that all wrong?
There’s no electrification anywhere in the film and copious shots from the drivers cab confirms this. /4

… when he gets on it has power doors (which he closes, thanks Jimmy!) and the interior where he meets his friends is clearly a mk3 derivative with the high windows and a strange moquette I’ve never seen before. /3

I think it was shot on British Rail’s prototype class 210 DEMU on Western region (pic from wiki, left). There’s shots of the approaches to Paddington in there (right) showing the then standard diesel mechanical units bumbling about but… /2

Really good Whitstable Gazette today and I particularly love this line from the obit of a local oysterman.
“Could be quite abrupt until you got to know him” is a fabulous euphemism.

Mayhem on the railways this morning but after an hour and a half hanging about we have a train from Salisbury.
In the meantime, here’s one we didn’t get.

Shrinkflation - M&S edition.
Many jokes have presented themselves to me for this post which I have decided too vulgar for Bluesky.
