Just visited the Immigration Museum in Melbourne. An explanation of immigration and the impact on native population in Australia on floor one, and a celebration of diversity on floor two. We need something like this in the UK.

On Monday our instagram account was hacked and then deleted. We received a ransom note to recover it; obviously we couldn't and wouldn't pay, and therefore lost thousands of followers. Meta support was useless. But we're BACK with a new account: @littletollerbooks. Can you follow us there and share?

Is there any chance Starmer could adopt a sensible plan that actually works?
3 things Starmer could do instead of camps in old barracks that would actually WORK👇

1. Create safe, regulated routes to apply for asylum in the UK

2. Let asylum seekers WORK & support themselves

3. Fast track status for people from obviously unsafe countries

The government's immigration policy is in desperate need of a bold change in direction.

Why does the DWP send CDs out with letters about winter fuel payments? What a huge waste of money. Who has CD players these days?

Great @pollytoynbee.bsky.social column this week. A partner to the @ohgodwhatnow.bsky.social deep dive into retirement.

We didn't find time to talk about this, but perhaps we should have: we keep on protecting the ideal of retirement, but at what cost?

And another 5* review from France. It's international which is fitting since it has a Spanish theme.
The first reviews are in for my Norfolk mystery and they are both 5* One in Italy and one in the UK. So thrilled. #Booksky #Reading #Norfolk

Some really fantastic outfits in the Annual Mister Global National Costume thread here.
You know what, let's do the Annual Mister Global National Costume thread tonight after all. Usual rules apply - this is all in fun, this isn't about the contestants looks or making fun of them, it's about the costumes and appreciating them (or, you know, making fun of them...)

Rachel gave birth to twins by emergency C-section.

The bills came to nearly $30,000.
Six months later, she was forced to declare bankruptcy.

This is what happens under an insurance-based system.
In the UK, that care would have cost nothing.

See what your care would cost in the US:

So depressing to read. We need to celebrate our immigrants. My grandfather was one. Within a few years he was slippering a minesweeper in WW1.
When I was a teenager there was a bus direct from my hometown in Germany to London - we had a British army base, and this direct bus connection was one of the benefits of that. One summer I went on that bus to go volunteer in an old people's home in Southend-on-Sea. I had just turned 18 and was... 🧵
