It was so much fun to go to the launch of Chicago Bike PAC. I got to see old and new bike friends, and got reminded of why we do what we do - improving safety to get more people on bikes!

Dates #Illinois passed big energy laws

-Deregulation: 12/17/97
-IPA Act: 8/28/07
-Smart Grid: 11/3/13 (Veto Override)
-FEJA: 12/7/16
-CEJA: 9/15/21

ie, no major energy bill successfully passed the General Assembly during general session in 3 decades

My strategy for the Trump admin is to generally reserve my anger for things that impact me directly. I just can’t be angry all the time. Consider me impacted:

Evanston’s municipal election is just weeks away and Chicago Bike PAC is endorsing candidates in the council and mayoral races. The city has real potential to build robust bike infrastructure in the next four years and with just nine wards, every seat matters!

Packed room to hear about the proposed bike lane on #Chicago Ave in #Evanston. Lots of NIMBYs, but lots of bike supporters too. #bikechi

Tucked into a #Chicago citywide poll posted on @capitolfax.bsky.social this week: bike taxes! The idea is 12 points underwater, but that’s too close for comfort. Call your alders, #bikechi! #NoBikeTax!

This is why bike advocacy and political giving matters. Don’t Ontario my Illinois. #ElectBikeChampions
Ontario passed a vindictive, anti-bike bill yesterday that:
—Requires cities to ask for permission to install bike lanes that would remove a vehicle lane
—Allows removal bike lanes in Toronto on Bloor, Yonge & University
—Fast-tracks construction of the major new highway 413 through tribal land
Ontario passes bill that allows major Toronto bike lanes to be ripped out | CBC News
The Ontario government has officially passed Bill 212 — a controversial piece of legislation that gives the province sweeping control over municipal bike lanes and lets construction of Highway 413 begin before Indigenous consultation or environmental assessment is complete.
