Scientist, science fiction reader, anime enthusiast, you can imagine the rest (go left, though).
Long day but four of the meetings were with students/trainees; and I do enjoy seeing the next generation moving forward. 😁 They are all different in what they can do, where they move quickly or where they are weak, but they are all working hard and figuring stuff out. Can't complain about that!

Just an early morning stroll yesterday morning with six thousand other people ... 😆
(It was freaking COLD!! 🥶 But I kept up a 16 min/mile walk the whole 5K, and am pretty pleased about that.)

The American political class is so disconnected from voters that they don’t realize that regular folks are totally down with a giant pan partisan jail cell holding everyone involved with Epstein’s crimes.

Hee--cooking curried chicken after dinner for tomorrow, and I had too much chicken, so I roasted the surplus at the same time. Two different main dishes going at the same time! Planning ahead!

Ooooo... New stage of adulting. 😂 Old dogs, my sweet patootie.

“This is a very important development,” says Dyann Wirth, a malaria researcher at the Harvard T. H. Chan School of Public Health who was not involved in the work. “We’ve been looking for this for a long time.”

I hadn't realized exactly all the up and down ballot wins last week -- this is a huge lineup, and if you can get all the way through it without grinning... 😁

Hee--one of my undergrads slogged away on his first paper, and we were planning to put it up on biorxiv so he could cite it. The work was solid, but the findings were ho-hum. But the other co-authors said to submit it to a journal!!

Woot!! Very good for the kid's imposter syndrome. 😁 #science

A conference I'll be attending asked to RSVP for a particular lunch panel session, then if willing to host a table, then if yes, to indicate my career position (early, mid, senior).

I finally had to admit I fall into the "senior faculty" position. 😱

Not sure this is an #achievementunlocked. 🤣

OMG the Josh Johnson bit on Mamdani is spot. on. Particularly the last 30 s about corporations. (Recorded before the elections, but it is informative for those of us with no memories of Cuomo's bad deeds. Chuck Schumer should be ashamed.)

Trump's own lawyer just admitted to the Supreme Court that American consumers pay 30%-80% of these insane Trump tariffs.

Over the next 10 years, Trump says they will collect over $4T in tariffs.

So that means American families are going to be paying $1.2T-$3.3 trillion dollars in TARIFF TAXES.

I have to admit that I disagree with Dr. Insel on this.

Cars are a bad analogy; we DO need red flag laws, until we can work with these things safely. We need to do MUCH better with AI than we did with cars, in protecting and valuing each other and the planet.

Spent the weekend adulting, but the laundry is actually all done and put away and I built the new laundry three-hamper whatsit, so that's all good. Small adventures! 😉

This weekend I get cartoon time again, so that is something to look forward too. 😁
