Anyone know anything about these bungalow-ish churches on the NW side? I randomly drove by one a few weeks ago, and then saw another similar one a few days ago. cc: @dmercer.bsky.social @ladytophamcatt.bsky.social @tudoraf.bsky.social

My dad showed me this today and acted all surprised when I didn't remember it from when I was probably four years old (almost 40 years ago). Check it out @ladytophamcatt.bsky.social

The current political climate and ICE enforcement threats have heavily impacted street vendors, keeping many from working and leaving families without income. A single day without sales means no money for rent, food, medicine, or childcare. (1/3)

New work: We have a vibrant and rich history of sign making, and it is the Chicago Sign Museum's mission to keep these remaining legacy signs in the Chicago area for cultural and educational purposes through ongoing advocacy efforts. Proceeds from this print go to supporting those efforts.

Here's a subtle reminder that there are 20 Chicago-inspired fonts available for f-r-e-e on my website. Use them wisely.

Some new work for our friends at the Columbia Yacht Club! The CYC is a site that is open to visits during this weekend's Open House Chicago, and I'd recommend it. I went last year and enjoyed exploring the ship that I have seen docked in the same spot my entire life.

Next Monday! Come on out to Lincoln Square for the next installment of Welcome to the Show! I'll do my best to be as entertaining as the two comedians that are also on the bill, but I can't make any promises.

See ya there?

I'm wondering if this person whose sticker I took a pic of yesterday is a member...

Got to design the concert poster for the @wbez.org - sponsored Jeff Tweedy show at the Adler Planetarium yesterday. I also got to attend the show, and brought along my pal @harebrained.bsky.social. It was quite an experience seeing a show in the Sky Theater ✨. Did anyone on here else go?

Any Jeff Tweedy/Wilco fans here? If so, @wbez.org is putting on a pop-up concert later this month at an undisclosed location, and you can enter to win tickets. It is free to enter, but if you donate $100, you get 100 entries...and a screen print concert poster designed by me!

Just some guys...who played for the Cubs. Except Kevin Sefcik. He was one of my dad's students at St. Xavier University, so I always followed his career.

To add a wrinkle, there is also one at Lawrence/Manor in Ravenswood Manor...but the brick pillar is no longer there, so the cap is just sitting in the grass.

Then there is also one at Lawrence/Virginia, in Ravenswood Gardens.

Met up with the unnamed person yesterday and they gave me a biiiig stack of "Stop Destroying Chicago" stickers. I'm going to keep'em on me at all times and slap them up whenever I can.

Also, if you want some, send a DM to @savedabungalows on Instagram, and they'll add you to their list.

Yesterday was National Thrift Store Day, and to celebrate not only Aug. 18, but thrifting in general, my friend Ashley Poskin hired me to create this "Chicago Thrift Map" that shows the location of some of the best thrift shops in the city.

Words of advice from an unnamed client: don't pop the top of your bungalow! I can't speak for them, but as a bungalow owner myself, I cringe every time I see a box plopped down onto the second floor of a classic Chicago bungalow with seemingly no regard for the home's original architectural style.

Read an article by @leebey1.bsky.social about the First Church of Deliverance the other day, and it inspired me to draw this iconic streamline Art Moderne building. They were just awarded a grant that will help them complete a comprehensive preservation and maintenance plan for this amazing place.
