Straight up Nazi shit. These people have been extensively vetted. Their families quickly assimilate, start businesses, enrich communities. The only reason to target them is that they are by definition foreigners, mostly brown, mostly not Christian. Parallel to 1930s European Jews is obvious.

Keep hearing people ask what’s the point of showing up to a rally. The point is solidarity. The point is demonstrating the size & strength of opposition to this regime. When authoritarians capture all branches of government, the plutocracy & major institutions, only the people can stop them.

It would be so easy for Vance to condemn overt racism and misogyny from a bunch of no-name Republicans in order to send the message that “We’re really not THIS despicable,” but he can’t bring himself to do it. Because they are that despicable, & the worst people are leading the way.

If our democracy is in danger of being toppled by a lawless authoritarian, why isn’t @barackobama.bsky.social speaking out daily about what a real Pres would do? Why is @kamalaharris.com rehashing the last campaign? Why isn’t every current and former Dem leader flooding the zone with anti-shit?

This is a huge deal. Kimmel’s opinions about the current administration (He doesn’t talk directly about Kirk) do nothing that violates FCC regulations. This is an authoritarian administration intimidating a broadcast into quashing legitimate criticism of its actions. 1st Amendment is under threat.

Getting to where I can’t listen to @nytimes Up First anymore. It’s obvious and predictable that Trump admin would use Kirk murder to justify further crackdown on dissent & democracy, but political reporters have to entertain the idea that there’s a legit left wing billionaire terror threat.

Charlie Kirk was an odious man, but his assassination has made everything worse. Kirk fans can feel like legit victims. Squeamish Dems offer less resistance. Journalists strain to report “both sides.” The takeover of American democracy accelerates.
Nothing good comes of political violence.

While other mainstream news orgs refer to Charlie Kirk as “right wing,” @npr.org has taken to calling him as “conservative.” Apparently, the choice is to pursue niceness rather than accuracy. Do their editors think this will get Trump to restore their funding?

Astounding. It’s not enough to ignore science; we’re eradicating it.
There is just no precedent in recent world history of an advanced industrialized country sabotaging its own scientific establishment, and destroying the base of scientific knowledge necessary for basic policymaking. An avowedly, actively anti-knowledge regime.

@mikepetriello.bsky.social years ago, w Total Baseball encyclopedia as guide, I discovered that KC in 70s-80s played like a hitters park when Royals were at bat & pitchers park otherwise. Only Veterans Stadium did the same, to lesser degree. Has any current team customized roster to park this way?

@enosarris.bsky.social I no longer have exact stats, but I know for a several years in 70s & 80s Royals (Kauffman) Stadium played like a hitter’s park during home at bats & a pitcher’s park otherwise.
