Sharing while struggling with answering "what the hell can I do that will stop this?"
🚨BREAKING. From a program officer at the National Science Foundation, a list of keywords that can cause a grant to be pulled. I will be sharing screenshots of these keywords along with a decision tree. Please share widely. This is a crisis for academic freedom & science.

Accessibility isn't radical. Curb cuts, captions, and large print are useful in making the world easier to navigate. This is true regardless of the political views you hold.

I can help with sharing for now. @wholewashington.org is growing grassroots support for universal healthcare in the state. If enough states push, we can see the nation change. bsky.app/profile/whol...
👋 Hi hello there.

I'm worried about this. Yes, we have all year but it's scary having this kind of thing looming over my head.

So I'm accepting money, or a legit and legal way for me to pay it myself!

And shares. Shares and boosts make my heart happy too! 💸💕
It's a new year, and a new deductible and out of pocket. This year we just can't afford my insulin pump anymore.

I am so sorry to have to ask for help. I am looking for work, and we are also thinking outside the box. Shares are appreciated, too!

Worth reading because ableist education supporters will use cite, by title not details, this study. Especially given the pressure on special education funding Inclusion is important for anti-ableism. Understanding that your 2nd, 5th, 8th, 11th grade classmate is different, matters.

Such cuts would fundamentally change how Medicaid financing works, writes KFF’s @robinr.bsky.social. #QuickTake on.kff.org/429Yq5m

Medicaid is a lifeline! People with disabilities rely on Medicaid services to support them in their daily lives. But about 711k people are waiting for Medicaid services. We need MORE funding, not less. #ProtectMedicaid and save lives! Sharing this message thanks to the The Arc of United States.

Another giant nail in the coffin of eugenics. People with disabilities are, like people without (in reality pre-disabled) Homo sapiens. We’re all human

Cognitive accessibility in gaming? A cluttered UI, overwhelming menus or unclear instructions can make games frustrating or inaccessible for players with cognitive disabilities, ADHD, autism etc. Simple fixes like clean layouts, clear instructions and customizable UI can make a huge difference.

If you don't know what Alt-text is, take a minute to understand it's importance. If, like our household, you use captioning ALL the time (those British shows are hard to understand), consider Alt-text the equivalent for images on social. #disabilityvisibility #captions #alttext
I keep getting better at adding alt-text and making it part of the rhythm of my online conversations by having this button on. Writing alt-text as my default means that I never forget it and it becomes my normal. Make alt-text your normal!
