There’s a small detail in your book that isn’t exactly wrong, but might be worth reconsidering. You refer to “邓丽君” as “Deng Lijun,” using Hanyu Pinyin. Since she was Taiwanese, and Taiwan typically doesn’t use Pinyin, “Teng Li-Chun” might be a more appropriate romanization.

I feel there may be a minor inaccuracy here. Yang Baibing didn’t lose all his positions in 1992—he was elected to the Politburo that year and stayed until 1997. Though he lost military power, his Party standing actually rose.
