Very excited that my final postdoctoral work is now online in Cell @cellpress.bsky.social.

Using 16 (!) cryo-EM structures, we uncovered how the three proteins coronin, cofilin and AIP1 work together to rapidly disassemble actin filaments.

First post here, my new review on how #calcium regulates #cytokinesis. It recounts discovery of cytokinetic calcium spikes in #pombe and the force-sensing channel driving such spikes. I compare #yeast to animal cells on calcium transients. Lots of unknown about these mysterious calcium currents.

hello, Bluesky! I am a cell biologist. Our lab at the @utoledo.bsky.social studies #cytokinesis using @pombase.bsky.social as the model organism.

The 2nd January issue is live.

It features work by the lab of Eurico Morais-de-Sá @polarityi3s.bsky.social at IBMC Porto showing that the Dystrophin-Dystroglycan complex ensures #cytokinesis efficiency in #Drosophila #epithelia.

AT LONG LAST… The essential #adherensjunction mechanosensitive protein alpha-catenin is required for #cytokinesis fidelity. We credential a previously defined (but poorly understood) abscission factor in this process, LZTS2. 🧵 1/12 rupress.org/jcb/article-...
α-Catenin force-sensitive binding and sequestration of LZTS2 leads to cytokinesis failure
This paper shows how epithelial cell–cell junctions play a critical role in the fidelity of cell division, where persistent unfolding of the mechanosensiti
