why my clothing isn’t “affordable.” trust me, if i could price it cheaper, i would. unfortunately i am not independently wealthy so all i can do is design and sell high quality garments that are sewn to last with certified ethical labor and price them as affordably as im able to. 1/2

We often conflate online discourse with leftism movements/action as a whole. Online left discourse - especially on corporate owned platforms - can be toxic, purity based & fractious. It’s why I highly encourage using online for education but push for IRL organizing and coalition building.

Went to Universal Fan Fest & adults in Harry Potter cosplay packed an elevator. They made room but I said “No, I don’t feel safe around people in HP outfits.” One upset said “EXCUSE ME?” as the doors closed. Wear HP merch if you want, but don’t act surprised when trans ppl don’t feel safe near you.

Are we ready to have the conversation about the “invisible comments section” yet? Because while I feel like creators probably have the hardest time with it, I think it’s something everyone is feeling.
I’m in this thread. Honestly I’ve really burnt out & become disillusioned with online work for this exact reason. I have ongoing anxiety, sleepless nights & regular panic attacks now about any work I do. It’s terrifying how people will drag up old, contextless things just to paint you a villain.
I've learned having minor visibility online is that there are people who go from liking your work to hating *you* based on their interpretation of one sentence. No seeking clarification, no questioning whether or not they misunderstood, no room to misspeak or make mistakes--you're just the villain.
