P.P.S. Oh yeah, one more thing!

I should also note that the tax credit formula is NOT reverting back to EXACTLY what it was in 2020...it's changing to be even LESS generous than it was then due to a regulatory change made by the Trump Regime last spring.

Here's how they differ.
November 10, 2025 at 9:02 PM
For another, it's NOT reverting back to the pre-enhanced formula; it's reverting to a *less-generous* version of it.

Blue = enhanced formula
Orange = original formula
Red = 2026 formula.
November 10, 2025 at 8:57 PM
IF THE *ENHANCED* TAX CREDITS EXPIRE, starting on January 1st, it will change to the ORANGE 🟠 formula, which has that huge "shark fin" sticking up.

There's still a sliding scale formula from 100 - 400% FPL, but it's much less generous...and it cuts off INSTANTLY if you break 400% FPL.
November 10, 2025 at 7:28 PM
The ACA tax credits are set up as a sliding scale to limit what percent of your household income you have to pay for the benchmark Silver plan.

Under the CURRENT formula 🔵, you pay between 0% - 8.5% as your income increases from 100 - 400% FPL, and no more than 8.5% when your income is > 400%.
November 10, 2025 at 7:25 PM
The dotted line is the % of our gross income this would cost at FULL PRICE.

At 200% FPL (~$53K) it would cost nearly HALF our income ($2,184 x 12 = $26.2K)

At 300% FPL (~$80K) it would cost 1/3 of our income.

At 400% FPL (~$106K) it would cost 25%.

It drops off to ~10% at around $262K/yr income.

This graph shows the difference. It looks confusing at first, but hear me out.

At full price, the benchmark Silver plan would cost us $2,184/mo next year.

UPDATE: Yes, I do plan on writing up my thoughts on last night's Senate vote from an ACA wonk POV, but I'm *still* working on my *other* big post about Premium Alignment.

I still have 10 states to go & it's taking longer than expected. Please bear with me.
November 10, 2025 at 4:03 PM
Just in case anyone's wondering what I'm working on while all of this is playing out...

I'll have a MAJOR update to my "Premium Alignment" post soon (hopefully tomorrow) which MAY be excellent news for a lot of ACA enrollees (not so much in Louisiana though, I'm afraid)

Punchbowl News seems to think Axios has the gist correct.

Paywalled...here's the full text such as it is for now.

We'll see if Axios is full of shit again or not.

UPDATE: OK, the preferences are pretty split between Vertical vs Horizontal, but everyone seems to prefer keeping the metal levels grouped together.

I'm gonna go with Horizontal, but I've also moved the labels inline to free up space & have also added patterns to help distinguish 2025 from 2026.
November 8, 2025 at 3:48 PM
...and here's TEXAS, which has *already had* Premium Alignment in place for several years and is continuing it.

Notice how the prices still increase at each metal level *but* GOLD plans start out less expensive than silver for both years?
November 8, 2025 at 2:16 PM
UPDATE: For comparison, here's what ARKANSAS, which is newly-initiating robust premium alignment, looks like using the horizontal format.
November 8, 2025 at 2:11 PM
Oh, here's a third option: Horizontal, but grouped by metal level like the vertical version.
November 8, 2025 at 1:41 PM
📣 QUESTION: Which of these formats makes it easier to understand how ACA premiums changed from 2025 to 2026 in New Jersey?

Left: Vertical, with bars grouped by metal levels (bronze, silver, gold)

Right: Horizontal, with bars grouped by year (2025, 2026)

Here’s how they break out by House district by Trump 2024 vote percent.

"Jelquing involves gripping your penis in a certain way & applying different levels of pressure to make it bigger.

"you get your D in a semi-erect state, make an "okay" grip at the bottom & gradually move it towards the top, exposing it to different higher levels of pressure."

So...masturbating?

Wanted for questioning.
November 7, 2025 at 12:44 AM
By contrast, here's what it looks like in Little Rock, Arkansas, which is newly-implementing #PremiumAlignment.

Net Silver premiums go up dramatically--but Bronze and Gold *drop* dramatically, meaning you can get a dirt-cheap Bronze or a much less-expensive Gold plan.
November 6, 2025 at 10:59 PM
Here's what this looks like in practice. Here in Michigan, which ISN'T embracing #PremiumAlignment yet (I've been trying to get it through for 2 years now), the NET price (after tax credits) of Bronze, Silver *and* Gold plans are all increasing significantly next year, as you might expect.
